Paul wrote by THE SPIRIT in 1 Corinthians chapter 6:
15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not!
16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a harlot is one body with her? For “the two,”He says, “shall become one flesh.”
17 But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.
18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.
19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?
20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.
People focus only on sexual immorality in this passage but I say we must go beyond the “do not” aspect expressed by Paul. Yes, let us not be sexually immoral but let us truly treat our body as HIS temple where HIS glory resides and expresses Itself.
Many people pursue the state of meeting “minimum” requirements in what they do rather than exceeding expectations. I believe the mature Sons and Daughters will exceed expectations by pursuing excellence in their walk. We have been given the opportunity by FATHER to be counted among those whom HE has placed here on this earth at this particular time in history.
In the past, I failed miserably at times to even meet FATHER’S minimum requirements but by HIS great mercy, HE restored me to fellowship with HIM. Our immaturity is considered as we go through the trials and testings before us and that is why FATHER’S mercy is necessary to be extended to us in order to get us back on track. Paul’s failures and restoration were very encouraging to me when one considers that he was an enemy to The Way before being confronted by Jesus.
We must not belittle the price paid for our bodies as well as our souls. Our bodies should become a testimony of Christ just as our actions should reflect FATHER’S Divine Intent. Jesus went to the cross and left nothing out for He died for our sins and our sicknesses. Let us pursue excellence in all areas rather than omit any aspect of FATHER’S Divine Intent. Let us glorify FATHER in body and spirit!
