Walking In Abundance- Part 9
October 23, 2026 – 3:58 amJesus walked in abundance, shouldn’t we expect to walk in the same manner as well?
Jesus wants us to walk in life and abundance and He is our example. We have been led to believe to a degree that prosperity is somehow less than Holy.
Let us consider fish in Scripture.
Moses recorded by The Holy Spirit in Genesis chapter 1:
26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.“
Genesis 1:26 explains God’s purpose in creating humanity: to reflect His character and exercise responsible authority over His creation.
“Let us make man”
The creation of humanity receives special emphasis. God speaks deliberately about making people in His Image. Here, “man” means humanity; verse 27 makes clear that both male and female bear God’s Image.
Verse 27 identifies God Himself as humanity’s Creator.
“In Our image, after Our likeness”
These closely related expressions describe humanity’s unique relationship to God. They do not primarily mean that our bodies resemble God physically, since God is spirit (John 4:24).
To bear God’s image means we are made to represent Him within creation. This includes our capacity to:
- Know God and respond to Him.
- Love, reason, make moral choices, and create.
- Reflect His goodness, justice, faithfulness, and care.
- Accept responsibility for how we treat others and the world.
Every person therefore has inherent dignity and value. That worth comes from God, rather than a person’s wealth, abilities, age, or usefulness. Sin distorts how we reflect God, but it does not erase the image; Genesis 9:6 still grounds human dignity in it after the fall.
“Let them have dominion”
God entrusts humanity with authority over animals and the earth. This is delegated authority: we remain accountable to the Creator.
Read alongside Genesis 2:15, where Adam is placed in the garden to work and keep it, dominion involves cultivating, protecting, and managing what belongs to God.
Moses recorded by The Holy Spirit in Genesis chapter 9:
1 God Lovingly blessed Noah and all his family and said to them, “Reproduce, be fruitful, and populate the earth.
2 I will cause every living creature of earth, sky, and sea to fear and dread you from this time forward. They are now under your authority.
3 You may now eat the meat of animals as well as green plants; I now give you everything for food for you.
4 However, you must not eat meat with its lifeblood still in it, for its life is in the blood.
5 If anyone takes another person’s life, I will demand an account—whether from man or beast, I will demand an account for taking a human life.
6 “Whoever sheds human blood, by other humans he must have his own blood shed; for to kill a person is to kill one made in God’s own beautiful image.
7 Now all of you, with My blessing, reproduce, be fruitful and repopulate the earth.”
8 Then God said to Noah and his family,
9 “I establish my Loving Covenant with you, your descendants,
What this means for you
You were created to know God, reflect His Character, and care faithfully for what He entrusts to you. You bear His Image, and so does every person you encounter.
Jesus shows perfectly what that image looks like:
Paul wrote by The Holy Spirit in Moses recorded by The Holy Spirit in Colossians chapter 1:
15 He (Jesus) is the Image of the invisible God, the Firstborn over all creation.
In other Words, Jesus is the Divine portrait, the True Likeness of the invisible God, and the Firstborn heir of all creation.
And in Colossians chapter 3:
10 For you have acquired new creation Life which is continually being renewed into the likeness of the One Who created you; giving you the full revelation of God.
You and I are being renewed to reflect Him more fully!
Given that expressed Truth, we have been given dominion over the fish of the sea, a direct indication of abundance and prosperity. In tomorrow’s writing, I will go into detail of this Covenant of dominion and its relationship in walking in abundance.
