Walking In Abundance- Part 5

October 18, 2026 – 3:28 am

All the basic principles of God’s abundance are related in some way to God’s promises. You cannot separate God’s abundance from God’s promises.

God’s provision is made available through His promises.

As I referenced yesterday, Peter understood FATHER’S provision.  After all, Jesus personally taught Peter and the other disciples how the Kingdom of GOD worked so that you and I would benefit from His direct teachings.

Peter wrote by The Holy Spirit in 2nd Peter chapter 1:

3 Everything we could ever need for Life and Godliness has already been deposited in us by His Divine power. For all this was lavished upon us through the rich experience of knowing Him Who has called us by name and invited us to come to Him through a glorious manifestation of His goodness.

It is critical that we understand and embrace this Truth!  We have access to this Divine power but we must set aside our carnal mind’s effect on our walk.

4 As a result of this, He has given you magnificent promises that are beyond all price, so that through the power of these tremendous promises we can experience partnership with the Divine nature, by which you have escaped the corrupt desires that are of the world.

You and I are meant to partner with Our Heavenly Father to bring forth HIS Kingdom to the earth.  How do we do this?

5 So devote yourselves to lavishly supplementing your faith with goodness, and to goodness add understanding,

6 and to understanding add the strength of self-control, and to self-control add patient endurance, and to patient endurance add Godliness,

7 and to Godliness add mercy toward your brothers and sisters, and to mercy toward others add unending Love.

8 Since these virtues are already planted deep within, and you possess them in abundant supply, they will keep you from being inactive or fruitless in your pursuit of knowing Jesus Christ more intimately.

All those attributes are within us waiting to be manifested for the benefit of others.  The key thought in these verses is abundance.  There is no scarcity in FATHER’S Kingdom.

You escape the world’s corrupt desires by drawing near to Christ, renewing your mind with His Word, and acting on what He shows you. It involves both God’s power and your daily choices.

It is vitally important to act on His Word when He tells you to do something… without delay.

How do we escape the world’s corrupt desires?

  1. Bring the desire into the light. Tell God honestly what attracts you—whether lust, greed, resentment, pride, or the need for approval. Confess it instead of defending it. God promises forgiveness and cleansing in 1 John 1:9.
  2. Change what you feed your mind. Romans 12:2 teaches that transformation comes through renewing your mind. Read Scripture prayerfully, asking, “What does this reveal about God, and what must change in my thinking?”
  3. Remove what strengthens the temptation. Romans 13:14 says to make no provision for the flesh. That can mean changing what you watch, avoiding a setting, ending a secret habit, or placing a boundary around access. Do this before the temptation becomes strong.
  4. Follow the Holy Spirit in the next choice. Galatians 5:16 connects walking by the Spirit with refusing the desires of the flesh. When tempted, pause, pray, and take a concrete step of obedience—leave the situation, forgive, tell the Truth, or turn your attention toward serving someone.
  5. Grow with other believers. Peter follows his teaching with a call to develop virtue, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly affection, and love (2 Peter 1:5–8). A trusted, mature Christian can help you face a struggle you have been carrying alone.

Being tempted does not mean you have failed. Jesus was tempted yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15). The issue is whether you welcome and cultivate the desire or bring it to God and resist it. When you stumble, return to Him promptly.

A simple prayer is: “Father, expose what is corrupting my heart. Strengthen my desire for You, renew my thinking, and help me obey Your Spirit in my next choice.”

Freedom grows as Love for God becomes stronger than the attraction of sin.  As we grow in Holiness and walk in the fruit of The Holy Spirit, abundance will manifest and allow us to serve others.
