We Are Ambassadors

How is the whole world to receive the Gospel?
Paul wrote by The Holy Spirit in 2nd Corinthians chapter 5:
18 And God has made all things new, and reconciled us to Himself, and given us the ministry of reconciling others to God.
19 In other Words, it was through the Anointed One that God was shepherding the world, not even keeping records of their transgressions, and He has entrusted to us the ministry of opening the door of reconciliation to God.
20 We are ambassadors of the Anointed One who carry the message of Christ to the world, as though God were tenderly pleading with them directly through our lips. So we tenderly plead with you on Christ’s behalf, “Turn back to God and be reconciled to Him.”
Paul explains that salvation is God’s work of reconciliation—restoring people who were separated from Him through sin.
Verse 18: God reconciled us to Himself
Reconciliation means changing a relationship from hostility and separation to peace and fellowship. Humanity did not repair the relationship with God. God took the initiative through Jesus Christ. Through Christ’s death and resurrection, believers are forgiven and brought back into fellowship with The Father.
After reconciling us, God gives us the ministry of reconciliation. We are called to help others discover the same peace with God that we have received.
Verse 19: God was in Christ
Paul says God was working through Christ to reconcile the world to Himself. God was not merely watching Jesus from a distance; He was carrying out His saving purpose through Him.
HE does this by not counting people’s sins against them. This does not mean God ignores sin. It means Christ bore sin’s judgment so forgiveness could be offered to those who receive Him.
God then entrusts believers with the message of reconciliation:
Because of Christ, you can be forgiven, restored and brought into fellowship with God.
Verse 20: Ambassadors for Christ
An ambassador represents a king or nation in another territory. Christians live in the world as representatives of Christ’s kingdom.
An ambassador:
- Speaks the King’s message rather than inventing his own
- Represents the King’s character and authority
- Invites people to respond to the King
- Remains loyal while living in foreign territory
When believers faithfully proclaim the Gospel, God appeals to people through them. Paul’s urgent message is: “Be reconciled to God.” This appeal is not telling people to earn peace with God. Christ has already provided the way. They must respond through repentance, faith and surrender.
Paul reveals FATHER’S Plan:
- Sin separates humanity from God
- God acts through Christ
- Christ bears sin and offers forgiveness
- Believers are reconciled to God
- Believers become Christ’s ambassadors
- Others are invited: Be reconciled to God
In this passage, Paul teaches that reconciliation has two movements:
- God brings us back to Himself.
- God sends us to help bring others back to Him.
We are not saved merely for our own benefit. Once reconciled, we become representatives through whom the Father extends His invitation to others.
21 For God made the Only One Who did not know sin to become sin for us, so that we might become the righteousness of God through our union with Him.
This verse explains the foundation: Christ, Who knew no sin, took our sin so that in Him we could receive right standing with God.
You and I have been given power and authority through HIS Name, now is the time to access it!
