Turning From Truth

In his second letter to Timothy, Paul wrote:

1 I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:

2 Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers;

4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables

It is my earnest desire to teach, encourage, and admonish those who read these blogs to adhere to the Truth presented in Scripture with a specific focus of the Words of Jesus.  This is the primary source of sound doctrine which is a set of beliefs that is confirmed by signs, miracles, power, and authority.  All other doctrines simply tickle the ears of those who follow such doctrines and are built on sand that easily washes away with time.

Men can control and manipulate through other doctrines that are not backed by Our Heavenly Father.  They have no true power to perform the words they speak and support but FATHER does as HE spoke to Jeremiah in chapter 1:

12  Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.”

How many men can truly guarantee performance of their word?  The answer is “none”.  Only FATHER has the inherent power to cause HIS Word to come to pass for HE created Heaven and earth by HIS Word.  If you want to walk in power, you must fully embrace HIS Word in your life.  Once you turn away from the Truth of HIS Word you have taken the path to death and destruction.  The end result will probably not happen immediately but be assured you are squarely on that path.

As I look back at these teachings, their purpose is to “convince, rebuke, and exhort”.  Each day I await FATHER’S instruction on what to write and HE never fails to provide whatever is needed for the reader, including myself, for that day.  If no one else read these writings, I would still be blessed for I am reading these for my own instruction by HIS SPIRIT.  I am a willing vessel to be a conduit for HIS Instruction to us.

Who is turning away from the Truth?  Paul reveals the sad reality in chapter 3:

1 But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:

2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good,

4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!

You can find every category Paul mentions in today’s news.  These are the perilous times he described.  Consider the first two descriptions: lovers of themselves are those who are self-absorbed and are led by their ego.  The second description “lovers of money” reflect the hoarding and greed that abounds.

Paul warns us there will be those who fall away from the Truth and join those on the path to destruction.  We must be vigilant to assess our focus and be careful to take the narrow “gate” Jesus spoke of:

13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”

Truth takes you through the narrow gate whereas all other “doctrines” cause you to turn away from the Truth and thus lead to destruction.  Seek HIS Truth and live.
