Another Kids In Need Update

Your offerings allow us to minister to the poor. FATHER is well aware of all you do to support those in need! Through the school, we provide gift cards and beef products to be distributed to those in need. After all, the teachers and counselors know which kids are in need of assistance!

I wanted to share a couple of stories that I have gotten over the last week.

Yesterday, I spoke with our elementary counselor about a family with 3 students in the elementary school. Mrs. Holcomb’s brother-in-law coaches one of our school’s youth football teams. This coach is a son of Officer Holcomb, and is also a police officer. 

He noticed that one particular student was always coming hungry to games and practices, and when he talked to the kid about it, he found out that they had not been able to purchase groceries. When he told Mrs. Holcomb about it, she immediately reached out about getting Crest cards for the family. The family does not have transportation, so Kyle has offered to pick the mom up and take her to Crest to buy the groceries. He is also going to be able to keep some extra snacks on hand for this student to have before games and practices when he needs them.

We are incredibly grateful to our Village Partners for once again demonstrating what it means to care for our students and their families. Because of your generosity, we were able to provide a student’s family with three $50 gift cards to Crest to help meet immediate needs during a difficult season.

This student’s family has endured tremendous hardship over the past two years, including losing their home in a devastating fire and the passing of their mother. His father works contract jobs, making consistent employment and income a challenge. These gift cards are more than financial assistance; they are a reminder that their community cares and is walking alongside them. Upon receiving the gift cards, the student stood up and gave me the biggest hug, saying how grateful he was to us as a school. Thank you for blessing him and his family with this thoughtful support and for continuing to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students.

In the past month, we have been able to give out or use 18 Crest and 11 Target cards to support our students.

Just this morning, I was informed of 2 siblings who need glasses and another student that needs soccer cleats. I’m going to have our nurse find out if this family has Sooner Care to help get the ball rolling with the glasses. The teacher who talked to me about the soccer cleats is going to look into the Cleats for Kids program- but I will let you know if we are unable to get these needs met through those other resources.
