Unreliable Riches

What treasures are we to be focused on?

Our current stewardship is directly related to our future rewards.

Paul wrote by The Holy Spirit in 1st Timothy chapter 6:

17  To all the rich of this world, I command you not to be wrapped in thoughts of pride over your prosperity, or rely on your wealth, for your riches are unreliable and nothing compared to the Living God. Trust instead in the One who lavishes upon us all good things, fulfilling our every need.

18 Remind the wealthy to be rich in remarkable works of extravagant generosity, willing to share with others.

19 These Spiritual investments will provide a beautiful foundation for their lives and secure for them a great future, as they lay their hands upon the meaning of true Life.

There was a certain man who at one time was worth $250 million.  He lived in a mansion and had a summer home on an exclusive island.  He had an incident with an employee who broke the law and was removed from the business.  That employee had political connections he used to destroy the business and ultimately the man’s wealth.  This can happen to anyone with substantial means.

As we are led by The Holy Spirit and walk according to The Word, we will enjoy the protection of Our Heavenly Father.

We are now in the midst of tumultuous times.  The value of the US Dollar is being challenged.  The value of 401K’s, savings, checking, real estate valuations, etc. are all subject to loss.  If you are counting on the temporary as your safety net, you may be sorry.

In the 1980’s, I saw real estate in the central US lose over 40% of its value within months.  I knew one lady who lost 1/3 of her life savings when financial institutions closed due to losses.  Younger people have no idea of the risk we now face.  Most pay no attention to history as though it won’t happen again.

I must place my trust in FATHER’S Word, especially Psalm 91:

1  He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

2 I will say to the LORD, “My refuge and My fortress, My God, in Whom I trust.”

3 For He will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence (including the manmade viruses intended to kill you).

4 He will cover you with his pinions, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and buckler.

5 You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

7 A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

8 You will only look with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked.

9 Because you have made The LORD your Dwelling place- the Most High, Who is my refuge

10 no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent.

11 For HE will command HIS angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.

12 On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. 13 You will tread on the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.

14 “Because he holds fast to ME in Love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows My Name.

15 When he calls to ME, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him.

16 With long life I will satisfy him and show him My Salvation.”

Don’t trust your temporary treasures for they have wings and can fly away over a weekend.  Don’t trust in the world’s incentives to enslave you in debt.  Place all your trust in Our Heavenly Father, Our Lord Jesus Christ, and purpose to be led by The Holy Spirit each and every day!  This is what I purpose to do and hope you do the same!
