Most who read this site are aspiring overcomers.  They have some revelation in this area and seek a greater, deeper understanding of what it means to be an overcomer.  In the King James Version, the word “overcometh” is mentioned eleven times.  It is the Greek word  nikaō #3528 from the root meaning “victory”.  Notice the John, the Beloved Disciple is the only one who writes of this particular word.  Could the Beloved Disciple be on to something?  Selah!

1 John 5:4  For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

1 John 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Rev 2:7 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

Rev 2:11 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death.

Rev 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.

Rev 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations:

Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Rev 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

Rev 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Rev 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

This week while walking down the street our youngest grandson discovered his shadow.  Of course he waved at it.  It waved back.  He was highly entertained by his shadow.  His Meme’s shadow began to interact with his and what a sight it was to behold.  All this was simply a reflection of life but not life itself.

We are not to be led by symbols, types, and shadows but instead by every Word that proceeds out of the mouth of Our Heavenly Father.  We are to be led by HIS Spirit, not the signs.  At best signs are only a confirmation but ONLY when HE tells us.  Yes, HE is the author of all signs, types, symbols, and shadows, but not all of them are relevant to us.

We have access to the visible and the invisible.  the Invisible created the visible so wouldn’t it make sense to pursue your path by the ONE who created the path in the first place?  Do you follow signs or do signs follow you?

Sometimes you will be placed on an unpopular path.  You will be pressured by others to tow the politically correct line as you diverge from their path.  How many disciples showed up to Jesus’ crucifixion?  Just one: John, the Beloved disciple.  The others dispersed out of fear and denial for the public pressure was greater than their revelation and understanding.

Symbols, types, and shadows can be a carnal taskmaster.  I saw one young lady who made a trip to the northeast and listened to her recount signs she experienced for 45 minutes .  She then interpreted those signs to justify her current state.  Signs don’t produce fruit, they at best are simply a shadow of fruit.  She missed the opportunity to simply “BE”.

Are you called to be a light unto the world or simply a reflection or cast a shadow?  Each of us are called to a personal relationship with FATHER.  We each have the opportunity to receive directly from HIM.  Yes, it is important to interact with others as they share what FATHER is saying to them.  That is the “spice” of life.  The sharing is just one aspect of joy, encouragement, and growth among the saints.  Forsake not the fellowshipping of the saints.

Our walk must come from within, not based on external signs.  We must not delay what we are hearing from FATHER as we wait for external signs to confirm HIS Word to us.  As we become mature sons and daughters, we know HIS plan, will, and purpose.  We don’t need to rely on some external confirmation.

When you move into uncharted territory there are no signs to follow, only HIS Voice.  This is where trust and assurance come into play.  The young and immature need signs to assure and comfort them.  That is okay.  They may even be entertained by them.  That can be a precious sight as well.  But in the end, the mature ones will hear the Word and respond.  They will not look to the external or others for assurance for the know HIM, HIS Word and the Divine Intent behind HIS Word.

Oh what a blessing, God works behind the scenes and then reveals His Glory.  I was surprised to find another check from Servias Ministries for $500 last week. When I called Bob to thank Servias again I asked if there were any individual names that I could thank personally and he suggested that I write him an email which he would put on the blog for everyone.  Sooooo!  Thank you Servias for being obedient and letting people know of the need and thank you all for listening and being obedient servants of the Lord.

I believe we are all in for a big change as the Kingdom is unveiled to us.  But as long as the Lord allows me to maintain the boat it will continue to be His and available for His people to use.  We had an absolutely wonderful evening last Sunday when Jan Kennedy a local friend who donated to the cause brought 5 of her beautiful friends down to the boat for dinner and fellowship. It was so difficult I really had to suffer for the Lord. 

As much as I love living aboard if it is a heart idol and a hindrance to my service for the Lord I’m sure he will give me a new direction send someone will along to carry on the boat’s legacy. 
So Hallelujah I’m getting closer to having enough money to either repair or demolish the boat.  I’m researching products that will deal with wet wood.  It’s in His hands I’m just waiting for clear directions.  Here is a opportunity for someone to own or partner in a classic boat and have a condo on the bay  for the cost of repairs.

Ephesians 5:2  And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.

As we walk in Love, it will include an offering and sacrifice which includes affliction.  Jesus became afflicted for us and we must also suffer afflictions for our brothers and sisters.  Our ego must be placed on the cross and be allowed to die.  As we walk in Love, the Holy Spirit will move us toward reconciliation and restoration.  This does not mean to fellowship with lawlessness but to be a standard by which lawless ness is exposed.  Love includes correction, not just some passive acceptance of others who maintain a lifestyle of sin and lawlessness.  Paul warns us:

3 But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;

4 neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor coarse jesting, which are not fitting, but rather giving of thanks.

5 For this you know, that no fornicator, unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

Though we must not fellowship with darkness it does not mean we should isolate ourselves from those who walk in darkness.  We should minister and restore as we are led by THE SPIRIT.  This is one reason being sensitive to THE SPIRIT is so important.  Love is actively in the restoration business, even to those who have gone off the deep end of cunningly devised fables.  Those who embrace these fables often find themselves there due to being hurt by those who profess to be Christians.  The lack of Love is often at the source of the division.  The hypocrisy comes to light and alienates those who lack the strength to withstand the inconsistency of word versus deed.  As a result, they fall into the ditch.  They looked to man to affirm them rather than FATHER.

6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

7 Therefore do not be partakers with them.

Empty words are devoid of truth, there is no fruit.  There are those who “write checks with their mouth their body can’t cash”.  They talk the talk but they don’t walk the walk.  As we follow the path of Christ, we will walk in Love.  As we walk in Love, we will take on the Divine Intent of Our Heavenly Father.  No longer will we speak empty words or pursue acts of lawlessness.  We will walk in the essence of Love and be a sweet-smelling aroma to Our Heavenly Father.

2 Peter 1:16 For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty.

17 For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

18 And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.

19 And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;

20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,

21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

One of the challenges of communicating is one of proper representation.  My goal is to be trustworthy in everything I share.  Every now and then I must stop, reflect, and remind myself of what FATHER has done in the past as a confirmation of direction and content.

I recall when I once believed and argued the “pre-tribulation” understanding.  Much of my understanding was actually drawn from seasoned Bible teachers, mostly on TV.  I relied heavily on their credibility rather than my own relationship with FATHER.  As I developed “ears to hear”, I was given deeper truths.  As I look back, I found that my doctrine changed as greater revelation came forth.  Knowing this, I am cautioned about defending any current revelation with too much zeal.

As we move toward what appears to be a consummation of the age, we must be very careful about where we place our trust.  As Peter wrote in the above passage, there are cunningly devised fables meant to move us away from the Truth.

Jesus stated it like this:

Matthew 24:24  “For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.”

As each of us aspire to a higher level in our walk, we must be sure to have a witness of THE SPIRIT.  This includes anything I write or convey.  I have urged those who read this site to have a personal relationship with Our Heavenly Father and have expressed the critical need to hear HIS VOICE.  It is indeed the most Trustworthy Word you can hear.  Let us all express Truth in Love, the essence of HIS Divine Intent.
