The Focus of 42

August 27th, 2014

Pamela and I just recently celebrated our 42nd Anniversary.  My cousin invited us to come up to Fox Island, Washington, and stay at her house as a base for day trips in the Seattle-Tacoma area.  I sensed that this was a trip to complete a set of “bookends”, a conclusion of an era of some type.  Only after the trip did I get further revelation about the era.

Stephen Jones has been writing (blogging) a commentary on the Book of Luke, the 42nd Book of the Bible.  Further, the 42nd move of the children of Israel was the move into the Promised Land, a type of completion.  Clearly, 42 is a notable number for these days.

Our Heavenly Father directed me to the following verse this morning:

Exodus 30:7  “Aaron shall burn on it sweet incense every morning; when he tends the lamps, he shall burn incense on it.”

Incense are prayers to Our Heavenly Father, first thing in the morning.  As I have suggested in the past, we should start our day being still before Our Heavenly Father and listen.  Prayer or communication goes both ways.  A sweet aroma draws our attention.  A lamp provides light or revelation.  As something is revealed to us, we can pray for it to come to pass.  We are to speak forth into the earth on HIS behalf.

In the first chapter of the Book of Luke, the story begins with a well-respected priest named Zacharias (Zacharias meaning "remembered of Jehovah").  His lot was chosen to burn incense one specific morning.  This particular day was the time the angel Gabriel would appear:

Luke 1: 10 And the whole multitude of the people were in prayer outside at the hour of the incense offering.  11 And an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing to the right of the altar of incense.

Gabriel’s message was one of preparation for the coming Messiah.  John the Baptist (born to Zacharias) was to prepare the way.  Our Heavenly Father provides us notification of HIS plans.  Scripture provides us confirmation of what HE is saying to us as individuals.  I suggest that you set time aside in your prayer closet to hear what HE is saying to you.  Let the sweet incense be a pleasing aroma in HIS nostrils.  You never know when an angelic messenger will show up and announce a forthcoming event.  Be assured that if and when the angel shows up, it will be good news, don’t be afraid.

“The Russian Aggression Prevention Act” (RAPA)

The Choice is yours

August 26th, 2014

“Ask, seek, knock”, we are instructed to do those acts.  Each require us to make a decision to continue and back it up with action.  Our lives on this earth require us to make many decisions on a daily basis.  Each one of those decisions is based on your intent.  When you speak, it is out of the abundance of your heart.  Yes, you can temporarily control your speech to project an illusion for the other person’s benefit, but in the end your true character will be revealed.  Your body language speaks volumes as well.

We are to owe no man anything but Love.  Why?  The borrower is servant to the lender and the borrower must always consider the requirements of the lender and act according to those requirements.  This relationship suppresses your ability to walk according to Our Heavenly Father’s Divine Intent for you.

Leverage is utilizing resources greater than your own to create a greater outcome.  This occurs when people buy a house with a mortgage.  Leverage in itself is not bad.  It only becomes a problem if you are unable to retire the leveraged portion you borrowed.  There is always a day of reckoning where the account must be settled and the debt must be satisfied.  People who look for ways out of satisfying the debt are lawless in their hearts.  They want to enjoy the fruits of others’ labor without the responsibility of repayment.  They are known by their persistent “taking” without ever “giving”.  They are poor stewards and will receive their just reward.

We are all given the opportunity to change from vessels of dishonor to vessels of honor.  We are first given simple tasks of stewardship to train, test, and, correct us.  A good steward will move on to greater responsibilities.  A poor steward will not.  A wise man seeks correction and change.  One who is led by their old man continues in his path toward destruction.  The choice is yours.

The Lord’s Prayer prophesies of the coming Kingdom enveloping the whole earth.  If you are not aligning your intent and actions with this Word given by the Jesus Christ, you are missing the point of the Gospel.  Your ego would have you proceed down alternative paths that are simply “time and resource burners”.  How many more church buildings do we need?  Unfocused resources are ultimately consumed into oblivion.  Each of us needs to put our money where our mouth is.  However, the choice is yours.

Joshua was told be strong and of good courage (to be strong, alert, courageous, brave, stout, bold, solid, hard).  Courage is required when you are called to step out of your comfort zone.  If you want to become mature in your calling, courage is required.  The choice is yours.

Many are called but few are chosen.  This tells us that there will be a division among those who are believers.  How do you make the cut?  The parable of the Wedding Feast gives us the answer.  Those who have other priorities and are unprepared are not allowed to be included.  As I have said in the past, look at your bank statement and your daily calendar.  Those two will proclaim your priorities and intent.  It is never too late to repent and change directions.  The choice is yours.

PS:  Don’t shoot the messenger.

Sowing and Reaping and Sowing and Reaping…

August 25th, 2014

All of us are called to wear many hats in our lives.  Yes, we each have a primary calling but that does not exclude us from other tasks and responsibilities.  A child eats, drinks, sleeps, plays, and learns.  Later the child is introduced to school and is required to master several areas of study in order to move to a higher grade.  This is true in all areas of life.  Our Heavenly Father provided us at least 66 books of the Bible, each one focusing on multiple areas of study.  In addition, we receive frequent training and revelation from HIS Spirit.  We are to become well rounded individuals as we move toward maturity.

My career was no different.  I held several diverse positions in business, each one selected by HIM.  I was content with being a banker yet HE moved me to IBM.  There I was content as well but HE further moved me into other positions in other companies.  This is true for all of us.  We are called to be multi-faceted in HIS expressed image.  HE has many names, each representing a different aspect of HIS Character:  Savior, Healer, Mighty Counselor Deliverer…  Would you want HIM to be any less?

Each of us has a primary calling but we need to be careful that we don’t forego the multi-faceted aspects of that calling.  If we try to narrow our focus too much, we will do nothing.  If we try to expand it too much, we will be ineffective.  The key is balance or moderation in all things.

A fundamental Law in Scripture is seedtime and harvest.  It is interwoven throughout Scripture.

Genesis 8:22

“While the earth remains,
Seedtime and harvest,
Cold and heat,
Winter and summer,
And day and night
Shall not cease.”

“While the earth remains” provides us a perspective of how long this law will be employed.  It is simple:  you reap what you sow:

If you sow nothing, your reap nothing

If you sow Love, you reap Love

If you sow discord, you reap discord

If you sow isolation, you reap isolation

If you sow financially, you reap financially

If you take, you are taken from

The list is as long as resources and characteristics of mankind.

A caveat to sowing and reaping must be mentioned.  Some people think that you can create a formula out of this law.  It will not work.  The subtle aspect of this Law includes “intent”.  There is a Divine Intent behind a seed.  It must and will produce after its own kind  The Intent is carried inside the seed and is reflected in the fruit.  If you sow money strictly to get more money, your intent is greed and scarcity.  You are actually sowing scarcity and will reap greater scarcity in your life.  This is why we must seek first the Kingdom of Our Heavenly Father and HIS righteousness.  THEN all these things will be added unto us.  When we sow with the proper intent, we will reap the proper reward.

As you walk in Love, you are assured of having the proper intent directing your sowing.  Those who are called to serve at the pleasure of Our Heavenly Father must expect to do things that are not necessarily in their comfort zone.  As we grow we must endure stress, trials, and tests.  We are given tasks that don’t appear to align themselves with our calling.  We must consider that there are lessons to be learned in all that we are exposed to throughout our walk.  It may be days, months, or years before we can appreciate those tasks we were confronted with.

HIS ways are higher than our ways and we must embrace those challenges before us, knowing that HE has designed a perfect training plan for our individual paths toward maturity and perfection.  Embrace each challenge, learn from it, and move on to greater maturity.

Romans 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Yesterday’s Broadcast

August 25th, 2014

As some of you know, we had to upgrade our PC because of Ustream’s increased resource requirements.  In doing this, it required us to reconfigure the other equipment such as microphones.  The microphone I was using was a little too “hot” and distorted.  If you turn down your volume on your PC, you can hear the broadcast with less distortion.  We hope to get back to a normal broadcast with the new equipment.  Hopefully you can overcome the distraction to get the content of what we wanted to share.  Let patience have its perfect work.

Singing with Grace in Your Hearts to THE LORD

August 23rd, 2014

No one can deny the impact of songs in our lives.  We are wired to remember stories put into musical form.  The Song of Moses is one such example.  Another is the Song of the Lamb mentioned in Revelations 15:3 & 4.  Paul underscores the characteristics of the “New Man” in Colossians where Love is the bond of perfection:

Character of the New Man:

Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

After a brief commercial, enjoy Andrea’s gift of song to Our Heavenly Father, it is but a taste of things to come:

My $10 Bowl of Oatmeal

August 22nd, 2014

Is there anyone who believes in the low inflation numbers being touted by the  government?  On our recent trip to the Seattle area, we wanted to take in the sights.  From Pike’s Market in downtown Seattle to Snoqualmie Falls, 30 minutes east of Seattle, the attractions were packed.  My cousin was our tour guide for the Snoqualmie Falls trek.  She made a reservation at Salish Lodge to have a late breakfast at Salish Lodge, known for their steel oats.  How  much could a bowl of oatmeal cost?  I found out and the waiter didn’t even apologize.  I thought to myself “Does this include a souvenir as well?”.

Real estate prices continue to soar as retail chains continue to downsize.  The stores at Pike’s Market were crowded but not that many people appeared to be buyers, most were just lookers.  Starbuck’s first store (circa 1971) was packed.  Very few people were buying the high-priced fish at the market.  Gasoline hovered at $3.90 per gallon.  All is not good on the economic front.  Shadowstats.com’s inflation rate of 9.7% is much more accurate than the headline inflation rate of 1.9% put out by the government.  I’m not sure what planet they report from.

The retail sector continues its decline.  They are heavily discounting, attempting to get some traffic.  Dollar stores are merging which is not a good sign.  More and more dollar menus are cropping up and restaurant chains are heavily marketing “dinner for two” deals.  The following graph provides the real story of where the U.S. economy is at:

China’s industrial output has been showing weakness as well.  Germany has shown signs of contraction.  The cheap money has helped the top 1% but has left the middle class behind.  The U.S. economic engine has just about sputtered out.  When this happens, the central planners try to put us into another war.  All the signs point to chaos ahead.  Love is the only answer to the current woes and at some point people will wake up and smell the flowers.  In the meantime, deleverage and simplify.  Don’t let “stuff” rule your day.
