Tornado Interactive Map

The lower hook is a major tornado in southern Oklahoma County at 3 PM today.  It is currently on the same track as the “May 3rd, 1999, tornado which clocked 318 miles per hour wind”.  The May 3rd tornado’s remarkable wind speed (at the high extreme of the Fujita Scale’s F5) led to much speculation that the scale would be modified to include an F6 category, due to the winds possibly exceeding 318 mph.

Our family was spared.  The tornado’s path was south of us, about 17 miles:
