Believing And Trusting- Part 3
October 5, 2026 – 3:22 amTo walk in the Abrahamic Covenant, Holiness is required!
FATHER expects purity in our intent, words and actions if we are to expect great blessings associated with HIS Covenant,
Moses recorded by The Holy Spirit in Genesis chapter 15:
4 And behold, the Word of the LORD came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.”
5 Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”
6 And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.
7 Then He said to him, “I am the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to inherit it.”
8 And he said, “Lord GOD, how shall I know that I will inherit it?”
9 So He said to him, “Bring Me a three-year-old heifer, a three-year-old female goat, a three-year-old ram, a turtledove, and a young pigeon.”
10 Then he brought all these to Him and cut them in two, down the middle, and placed each piece opposite the other; but he did not cut the birds in two.
A blood covenant was being established.
11 And when the vultures came down on the carcasses, Abram drove them away.
Vultures are symbolic of evil powers attempting to interfere with this covenant ritual. Abraham did not allow it!
12 Now when the sun was going down, a deep sleep fell upon Abram; and behold, horror and great darkness fell upon him.
Even in darkness, THE LORD is there.
13 Then He said to Abram: “Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years.
14 And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions.
The wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just. (Proverbs 13:22)
15 Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in peace; you shall be buried at a good old age.
16 But in the fourth generation they shall return here, for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet complete.”
17 And it came to pass, when the sun went down and it was dark, that behold, there appeared a smoking oven and a burning torch that passed between those pieces.
A smoking (portable) oven is described later as a censer.
Leviticus 16:12–13 describes what the high priest did with incense on the Day of Atonement. Aaron was to take a censer filled with burning coals from the altar and two handfuls of finely ground incense into the Most Holy Place. There he put the incense on the coals, creating a cloud of smoke over the mercy seat, the cover of the ark where God said He would appear. God commanded this “so that he may not die.”
The details matter:
- The coals came from the altar. Aaron did not approach God on his own terms; he followed the procedure God gave him.
- The incense made a cloud. The text specifically says the cloud covered the mercy seat. It marked the holiness and danger of entering God’s presence.
- This came before the blood ritual. In the following verses, Aaron sprinkled blood to make atonement for himself and for Israel (Leviticus 16:14–16).
The central lesson is that access to God’s Holy Presence required God’s provision and careful obedience. Aaron could enter, but only in the way God prescribed.
Leviticus 16 explicitly describes a censer with incense. Genesis 15:17 describes a smoking fire pot and a flaming torch, but does not say the pot contained incense. Both passages share the imagery of smoke in a Sacred encounter.
FATHER requires Holiness to be in HIS Presence!
