Believing And Trusting

October 3, 2026 – 3:08 am

Believing and trusting are closely related!

Wisdom recorded in Proverbs chapter 3:

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Faithfulness is part of HIS character,

In the Bible, believing and trusting are closely connected. Believing recognizes that God and His Word are true. Trusting relies on Him because of that belief.

James 2:19 says even demons believe that God is one. They recognize a true fact, but they do not entrust themselves to Him. Proverbs 3:5–6 calls us to “trust in the LORD with all your heart” and to acknowledge Him in our ways. That trust shapes what we do.

The following chart reflects the genealogy from Adam to Abraham.

* Noah’s age of 502 at Shem’s birth is calculated from Genesis 7:6 and 11:10; Genesis 5:32 says Noah began having sons at 500.

† Genesis 11:26 says Terah began having sons at 70, but does not establish that Abram was born when Terah was 70. Thus 1948 is a common timeline calculation, not a certain birth year for Abram.

There are 20 distinct men listed on the above chart.  Do you think that Adam spoke of his relationship with Our Heavenly Father?

According to the Genesis 5 timeline, Adam died in year 930 after his creation, at age 930 (Genesis 5:5).

At that time, these eight other men on your chart had been born and were still alive: Seth, Enos, Cainan, Mahalaleel, Jared, Enoch, Methuselah, and Lamech. Enoch was still present; he was taken by God in year 987. Noah was not born until year 1056.

So nine men on the chart were alive just before Adam’s death, counting Adam himself.

Each generation would have definitely shared the details of the previous generations to their offspring.  Abram received the benefits of the previous generations’ facts, Truths, and beliefs.

THE LORD spoke to Abram in Genesis chapter 12:

1 Now the LORD had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.

2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.

3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

4 So Abram departed as the LORD had spoken to him, and Lot went with him. And Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed from Haran.

It is clear that Abram had been prepared to hear Yahweh when HE directed him to walk out his calling.

It is written by The Holy Spirit in Hebrews chapter 11:

8 Faith motivated Abraham to obey God’s call and leave the familiar to discover the territory he was destined to inherit from God. So he left with only a promise and without even knowing ahead of time where he was going, Abraham stepped out in faith.

You are never to old to walk out your calling and enter a new phase of your life!
