At The Forefront- Part 1

The Holy Spirit should be at the forefront of our walk in Christ!

In the last 55 years, my wife and I have not only observed but have experienced the move of The Holy Spirit in churches, meetings, and mission trips.  However, today, the emphasis on The Holy Spirit’s ministry in most churches has subsided and in general have become unobservable.  In fact, is The Holy Spirit in the building?

We are not to quench nor grieve The Holy Spirit.

Psalm 92:10 NKJV

But my horn You have exalted like a wild ox; I have been anointed with fresh oil.

The anointing means to pour oil on your hands and apply the oil to another.

Exodus 30:25-26,29 NKJV

And you shall make from these a holy anointing oil, an ointment compounded according to the art of the perfumer. It shall be a holy anointing oil. [26] With it you shall anoint the tabernacle of meeting and the ark of the Testimony; [29] You shall consecrate them, that they may be most holy; whatever touches them must be holy.

Consecrate means to set apart something or someone for God and His purposes.

In the biblical sense, consecration involves dedication, surrender, and separation unto God. It means saying, in effect:

“I belong to God. My life is His, and I am available for His purposes.”

For example, Romans 12:1 captures the idea:

“Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God…”

Consecration is therefore more than avoiding sin. It is positively giving yourself to God—your will, plans, possessions, abilities, time, relationships, and future.

A useful distinction is:

Salvation — God saves you.
Sanctification — God progressively makes you holy.
Consecration — you deliberately surrender and dedicate yourself to God.

In connection with our discussion of the Holy Spirit and the oil in Matthew 25, consecration can be understood as making yourself fully available to the Holy Spirit’s leadership. It is not earning or purchasing the Holy Spirit; rather, it is removing resistance and yielding yourself to Him.

Jesus expressed the heart of consecration perfectly when He prayed:

“Not my will, but thine, be done.” — Luke 22:42

So, in its simplest form:

Consecration = “Lord, I am Yours. Your will, not mine.”

Impartation:

1 Samuel 16:13 NKJV

Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

Holy Spirit brings freedom

Isaiah 10:27 TPT

In that day the Lord will remove the heavy burden from your shoulders and break off the yoke of bondage from your necks because of the heavy anointing upon you!

Holy Spirit brings joy and gladness

Hebrews 1:8-9 NKJV

But to the Son He says: “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. [9] You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.”

Holy Spirit’s healing power

James 5:14-15 NKJV

Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. [15] And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.

Dew represents the fresh Presence of GOD

Psalm 133:2-3 NKJV

It is like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments. [3] It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing- Life forevermore.

It touches everyone in close proximity and bestows a special blessing.
