Time Of Communion

How often should we take communion?

Jesus spoke in John 6:

26  Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.

27 Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting Life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His Seal on Him.”

28 Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”

29 Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him Whom He sent.”

30 Therefore they said to Him, “What sign will You perform then, that we may see it and believe You? What work will You do?

31 Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from Heaven to eat.'”

32 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from Heaven, but My Father gives you the True Bread from Heaven.

33 For the Bread of God is He Who comes down from Heaven and gives Life to the world.”

34 Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.”

35 And Jesus said to them, “I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

FATHER gave the children of Israel Bread from Heaven daily and there was no sickness or disease among them.  Why?  They received their Daily Bread (Jesus’ Body).  Isn’t our Covenant superior to theirs?

Luke recorded by The Holy Spirit in Luke chapter 11:

1  Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”

2 So He said to them, “When you pray, say:

Our Father in Heaven, Hallowed be Your Name.

Your Kingdom come.

Your Will be done On earth as it is in Heaven.

3 Give us day by day our daily Bread.

4 And forgive us our sins,

For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.

And do not lead us into temptation,

But deliver us from the evil one.”

Did Jesus give us an important key to walking in Divine health on a daily basis within the Model Prayer?  What Bread are we to take?

Luke recorded by The Holy Spirit in Acts chapter 2:

42  Every believer was faithfully devoted to following the teachings of the apostles. Their hearts were mutually linked to one another, sharing communion and coming together regularly for prayer.

43 A deep sense of Holy awe swept over everyone, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders.

44 All the believers were in fellowship as one body, and they shared with one another whatever they had.

45 Out of generosity they even sold their assets to distribute the proceeds to those who were in need among them.

46 Daily they met together in the temple courts and in one another’s homes to celebrate communion. They shared meals together with joyful hearts and tender humility.

47 They were continually filled with praises to God, enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord kept adding to their number daily those who were coming to life.

Why did the church grow so quickly in the beginning?  Healings and other signs were occurring at the hands of those who took communion daily.

Luke continues in Acts chapter 3:

1  Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.

2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple;

3 who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms.

4 And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.”

5 So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.

6 Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”

7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

8 So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them-walking, leaping, and praising God.

9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God.

10 Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

Taking communion daily was (and is) the appropriate reminder of remembering The Body of Christ and Its healing power as well as His Blood of redemption.

With this in mind, Paul wrote by The Holy Spirit in Romans chapter 12:

1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, Holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect Will of God.

The early church took daily communion, renewing their minds.  Jesus said to take communion in remembrance of Him.  Shouldn’t we consider taking communion daily as well?
