Who are the 24 elders in The Throne Room of Heaven?
The Beloved Disciple recorded by The Holy Spirit in Revelation 4:
4 Around the Throne were twenty-four thrones, and on the thrones I saw twenty-four elders sitting, clothed in white robes; and they had crowns of gold on their heads.
They are referenced elsewhere: In Revelation 3:
5 He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.
11 Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.
21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My Throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His Throne.
In Revelation 5:
8 Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.
9 And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your Blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation,
10 And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.”
These 24 elders represent the overcomers who fully committed to Jesus Christ as they were led by The Holy Spirit on earth. They are called both kings and priests which is beyond the Old Testament Law. They worshipped Christ and not allowed themselves to worship idols of any type. It is clear that they walked in THE FEAR OF THE LORD and were not moved by the world’s attempts to take them off course.
There are several references to their crowns:
In Revelation 2:
10 Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.
In Revelation 3:
11 Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.
Also, James wrote by The Holy Spirit in James chapter 1:
12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of Life which the Lord has promised to those who Love Him.
Paul wrote by The Holy Spirit in 2nd Timothy chapter 4:
8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have Loved His appearing.
Make note, appearing is different than returning to earth.
Peter also wrote by The Holy Spirit in 1st Peter chapter 5:
4 and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that does not fade away.
Paul also wrote in 1st Corinthians chapter 9:
25 And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown (incorruptible).
And in 1st Thessalonians chapter 2:
19 For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming?
These different crowns represent:
Those who have suffered for His sake
Those who Loved His Appearing
Those who fed the flock
Those who press on steadfastly
Those who win souls
You can’t earn your salvation but you can earn your crowns!
