We have a high school student that others have a hard time being around because of his hygiene. He shared about his housing situation with his teacher and our nurse, and it was heart-wrenching. As you know, many of our kids have poor hygiene and living conditions and suffer the consequences at school when so much of it is out of their control because of decisions their parents are making. Our nurse and special education director had a heart-to-heart with this student about things he could do. He agreed to take a shower at school in the gym locker room. Our SPED director went to Target and purchased toiletries and new clothes to keep at school for him so that he could shower and get dressed here before going to class. 

About two weeks ago, a middle school teacher approached me about another student that stood out to him in class. I love when our male teachers are able to have these conversations with our male students because they need that sort of role model in their lives. Mr. Baker was able to purchase hygiene supplies for this student- but the best part was that it didn’t just come as a handout. He actually built a relationship with this student and it was evident to him that it was done out of love and not pity.

 On Wednesday, we had a student come in who had a bad smell about him. This student is 14 years old and lives in an apartment complex nearby. He struggles in general school and is in our alternative program, which meets from 8 to 12:15 p.m. I talked with him about me washing his clothes daily and after further review, I determined he needed some help. So I gave him two Target gift cards. His face lit up and he was so excited. Officer Holcomb took him home and he could not stop smiling. He said, “No one ever gives me anything.” It is a blessing to give it to students in need. Thank you for supporting Bethany’s students.

This is all about showing Love and giving these kids hope!

To the Ministry Contributors: 

I just had a family report that their apartment flooded and they lost furniture, clothing, Christmas gifts, etc. I will be giving them the remainder of the Target gift cards to help purchase items. Thank you for all that you have done for our students and their families.

Once again, thank you for your support! Our Heavenly Father knows our hearts and the good fruits of our giving!

We have continued providing kids with essentials and food. A number of coats were purchased and handed out to those without. Thank you!!!

Here is one testimony of a villager in need:

This teacher has had the same Villager for 3 years and always goes above and beyond for him! Today is Pajama Day at school. She got him pajamas that matched hers….which he is pretending to hate, but we all know he secretly loves! He has been going around school all day telling everyone that he is twins with Mrs. Compton today!

From a school counselor:

We need to say thanks to our wonderful benefactor again. I recently purchased about a dozen pairs of slide-on shoes in various sizes for us to give out to students who wear houseshoes to school because they don’t have good shoes or for those who have a shoe malfunction while at school. I also purchased a new coat for one of our students who walks from NW 36th and Hammond but did not have a good winter coat.

This Eternal Truth has not changed since John wrote it in the early 20th century!

We continue to provide the Kids in need with food, clothing, and toiletries. We also purchased beanies (stocking caps) with their school logo for those who need them this winter. Additionally, we contributed to the school’s food pantry ministry which hands out additional food to the families of students.

We plan to fund a set of hearing aids to one child who was found by the counselor to have a hearing problem. The parents cannot afford this expenditure.

Thank you to those who support this giving to the poor. FATHER takes note!

Jesus spoke in Matthew chapter 6:

1  Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in Heaven.

2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: 4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret Himself shall reward thee openly.

Alms (G1654) are donations to the poor.  Your contributions go directly to the poor in the local school district.  These kids in need have no idea who is providing food, clothing, toiletries, and other such assistance.  When we give, FATHER has HIS angels make a record of our giving so that HE shall reward us openly.

Jesus spoke in Luke chapter 12:

29  “And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind.

30 For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things.

31 But seek the Kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.

32 “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the Kingdom.

33 Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys.

34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

FATHER honors our giving to those who cannot pay us back.  After all, we could never pay Jesus back for what He did for us!

Luke recorded by The Holy Spirit in Acts chapter 10:

1  At that time there was a Roman military officer, Cornelius, who was in charge of one hundred men stationed in Caesarea. He was the captain of the Italian regiment, 2 a devout man of extraordinary character who worshiped God and prayed regularly, together with all his family. He also had a heart for the poor and gave alms generously to help them.

3 One afternoon about three o’clock, he had an open vision and saw the angel of God appear right in front of him, calling out his name, “Cornelius!”

4 Startled, he was overcome with fear by the sight of the angel. He asked, “What do you want, Lord?” The angel said, “All of your prayers and your generosity to the poor have ascended before God as an eternal offering.”

Cornelius was used by FATHER to assist in Peter’s major revelation of the Gentiles being included in The Kingdom of GOD.  We too have a heart for the poor and this is why we have become a conduit to give generously to the poor.
