The Deep Things

September 16th, 2014

1 Corinthians 2:

6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God ordained before the ages for our glory, 8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

9 But as it is written:

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,

Nor have entered into the heart of man

The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

The deep things of Father are reserved for those who Love HIM, it’s that simple.  Love is the key to move us into the deeper mysteries HE has reserved for HIS sons and daughters who Love HIM so much that they set everything else aside and desire only to do HIS Will.  The things of this world become of little value to them, they just don’t matter anymore.  What matters is fellowship with HIM and then doing HIS Will.

HIS Will may seem inconvenient at times.  It is usually due to a lesson needing to be learned.  We must learn to submit to HIS guidance as we proceed throughout each day.  What “will” you me this day FATHER?  IN HIM, we have our being.

A bondservant is a Love slave.  He has served the necessary servitude and is ready to be released as his jubilee from his debt.  However, he may opt to stay with his master.  If he does, “is ear is opened” by the master:

Exodus 21:1 “Now these are the judgments which you shall set before them: 2 If you buy a Hebrew servant, he shall serve six years; and in the seventh he shall go out free and pay nothing. 3 If he comes in by himself, he shall go out by himself; if he comes in married, then his wife shall go out with him. 4 If his master has given him a wife, and she has borne him sons or daughters, the wife and her children shall be her master’s, and he shall go out by himself. 5 But if the servant plainly says, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free,’ 6 then his master shall bring him to the judges. He shall also bring him to the door, or to the doorpost, and his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him forever.

He who has ears, let him “hear”.  We are at the door and the choice is ours.

Maintain Good Works

September 15th, 2014

We are called to be fruitful.  Observation and inspection of fruit is a responsibility given to each of us to assess our progress toward the fullness of maturity in our walk.  In the epistle of Titus, Paul provides specific direction about our walk:

3:1 Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work,

2 to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men.

3 For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another.

4 But when the kindness and the love of God our Savior toward man appeared,

5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,

6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior,

7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

In the above passage, Paul mentions our regeneration, or rebirth by the Holy Spirit.  We have within us HIS Life and Love.  We now contain HIS Character of Love, waiting to be expressed in our lives.  We are now ready for every good work.  As we discussed in our online Bible study, the acorn does not have to commit to be an oak tree, it is simply an oak tree waiting to be expressed as one as it proceeds to full maturity.  Once we have been regenerated, we are then ready to die to the old man thus allowing the new man to be expressed from within.  We now have the “genetics” to fulfill our calling.  No longer should we walk in the foolishness, disobedience, and deception of the old man.  We are now to proceed to full maturity.  We do not have to work and commit to take on something that is now resident inside of us.  Simply plant, feed, and water an acorn and it will grow into a mighty oak tree.

8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

Good works are an outworking of the Love of FATHER within you.  They are an outward expression of your progress and maturity.  If you do nothing, there is nothing to inspect.  If Love isn’t expressed, the following will be observed:

9 But avoid foolish disputes, genealogies, contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless. 10 Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, 11 knowing that such a person is warped and sinning, being self-condemned.

We are to avoid disputes with divisive men.  Divisions can occur in the most subtle manner.  Words and actions either serve mankind or serve “self”.  Those who exalt “self” will move the focus away from the Love of FATHER and the Way of Jesus Christ.  The focus will move toward lack of something: revelation, knowledge, resources, understanding, skill… in an attempt to focus on their ability to provide something you lack.  This in itself is a counterfeit to Our Heavenly Father being the source of everything we need to mature and flourish.  In 17th chapter of the Gospel of John, Jesus made it quite clear that Our Heavenly Father is the source of all.  Jesus expressed HIS Image.

As we tap into the SOURCE of all, we will maintain and promote good works among the brethren.  Unity can only be attained by Love, the bond of perfection.  Our good works are an outworking of the Love that is flowing within us.

Sowing and Reaping

September 13th, 2014

Galatians 6:7   Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

This law was established in Genesis- each will produce after its own kind.  Paul warned the Galatians about returning to the bondage of the Law.  Many were considering outward circumcision as though cutting away some flesh would make a difference in the spirit.  Keeping the Law in an outward fashion does not make one more spiritual.  The outward change does not precede the inward change.  On the contrary, we must change in our hearts and then the good fruit will come.

8   For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life

What are you sowing or planting in your heart?  Do you really think that outward acts will make you righteous on the inside?  Our Heavenly Father’s Word is what cleanses us and as we receive HIS Word by reading it or hearing HIM in our prayer closet, we will change.  We must be patient:

9  And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

As the Word cleanses you, your intent begins to line up with Our Heavenly Father’s Character and Intent.  As we remove the outward distractions of man’s customs and other controlling mechanisms, we will no longer plant the seeds of legalism.  Paul tells us:  “ 4 But let each one examine his own work, and then he will have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another”.  What fruit are you producing?  Are you positively impacting someone’s life?

10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

As you purpose, your actions will follow.  Carnal men “take”, Sons of GOD “give”.

What do you expect?

September 12th, 2014

All of the current systems in place (political, economic, religious) are based on man’s carnal intent.  The old man seeks to control and dominate others whether it be by use of emotion, physical power, mental power, or monetary restriction.  The old man seeks to place everyone into bondage and submission.  On the economic front, this is done by which currencies are acceptable and your access to them, even if you have claim to a portion.

A bank holiday is designed to restrict you from your money.

Credit and debit cards are designed to exert control over you in a moment’s notice, no matter where you are at.

Online banking is convenient until you don’t have access via the Internet.

Your money in the bank is not yours, it is a claim.

Stocks in your brokerage account are not yours unless physical certificates are issued in your name, otherwise you only have a claim.

Martial law is designed to restrict your movements.

Border control is designed to keep you in or out whichever the case may be… even if you are a citizen.

Legislation against enemies of the state is now broad enough to circumvent any personal rights.

The simple reality is this: the guy with the gun, the badge, and the prison is the Law.  How are we to respond?  Live peaceably and know that in the end Our Heavenly Father will prevail over man’s carnal systems.  In the meantime, pay your taxes, abide by the law, and be above reproach knowing that the system will only get worse and lawlessness will increase as the Sons are being prepared.  Don’t let your emotions get the best of you but focus on the Word of Father to sustain you as things get dicey out there.  As we are led by the Spirit, HE will navigate us through and protects us from the prevailing lawlessness.  Don’t expect the current system to get fixed.  The train is moving rapidly toward the cliff and the only real solution is found in Heavenly Places.  That is where we must place our trust.  When will the dung hit the fan?  Father knows, everyone else is simply guessing.

A Famine in the land

September 11th, 2014

Consider the following quote:

“Jesse Penn-Lewis has recorded the history of the great revival that swept through the country of Wales in 1902-1905.  In an hour of great apostasy and degeneracy many hundreds of people began to fervently pray for God to move in that land.  After many months the windows of heaven were opened and the Holy Spirit swept as an overflowing stream over a huge gathering of five thousand men and women.  The presence of the Spirit was like the “wind” moving upon the people.  Young people flocked to the services.  Soon the churches were crowded, the valleys and the mountains ringing with the high praises of God.  Lives were changed and many were the evidences of God’s power working in repentance, restitution, and transformation.  Long-standing debts were paid.  Stolen goods were returned.  Sinners and degenerate people in all stratas of life came to Christ, and quickly the world knew the results. Magistrates were presented with white gloves in many places because there were “no cases,” so many people had been saved that the crime rate had dropped to zero!  Rowdiness was changed to soberness.  Cursing and swearing ceased to be heard.  Dens of iniquity had to close their doors for lack of patrons.  Stores were emptied of their stocks of Bibles.  Far and wide the influence spread, affecting all classes.  Political meetings had to be postponed, and members of Parliament were out taking part in revival meetings!  The mighty tidal wave swept hither and thither — men knew not how or why.  The Spirit of God found His own channels; and many districts had extraordinary manifestations of God’s power.”

When will we see a move of the Spirit?  The Elect are being prepared in their fervent, effectual prayer closets as the world continues its downward spiral.  Once the Treasury in Heaven is opened, expect much greater results than that of 100 years ago.  Love will overcome the growing spiritual famine and darkness of this world’s systems, not as a revival but as a replacement to the current systems in place.

Above Reproach

September 11th, 2014

Paul  wrote in Colossians:

1:21   And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight—

First of all, we were all vessels of dishonor doing evil deeds by the wickedness in our minds.  None of us started out righteous but all of us were in sin.  Those yet to be reconciled are still in that condition.  This world’s systems are being sustained by the masses of carnal men and women.  The current economic system is based on carnality and fraud.  The current legal system is controlled by the unrighteous to insure others who are lawless outside the norm of carnality are kept in line.  Will the truly righteous person in the courtroom please stand up!

What does it mean to be above reproach?  We must be blameless, unaccused, unreproveable, in other words our words and actions must conform to the standard of truth in Love.  If we endorse or participate in anything else we are guilty of the same carnality.  How is it possible to maintain such a state of being above reproach?  It occurs when you are led by the Spirit of Our Heavenly Father.

The serpent is the most subtle of all the animals.  Our carnal nature or ego is equally subtle.  It would draw us to philosophy of man over the wisdom of Our Heavenly Father.  It would place its reliance on legalism rather than truth in Love.  We must set our minds on things above, not on things on the earth.  Paul wrote:

Colossians 3:

5 Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, 7 in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them.

8 But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. 9 Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10 and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,

Each of us is accountable to “put off” and put to death actions and thoughts of the old man.  We must put on the new man and renew ourselves by the cleansing of the Word of Our Heavenly Father.

My goal is to be above reproach in all areas of my life.  My flesh has to die for this to come to pass.  The old man would tempt me to give into the path that leads to destruction.  As I dwell with Father, my interests move away from the priorities of the old man.  When you are presented with a fork in the path you are on- stop!  See which path Our Heavenly Father wants you to take.  The other option may be very subtle and appear okay yet there is something slightly off about it.  Internally,  there is something tugging at you.  The serpent would have you slightly alter your focus just enough to lead you astray.  The more mature in Christ you are, the more subtle these alternate paths tend to be.  You may passively rely on other mature saints to check the path for you.  That’s a mistake.  There is no assurance of their witness or decision.  Instead, each of us should individually rely on the witness of the Holy Spirit.  As we do, we will be above reproach.

As you become sensitive and walk according to the standard of truth in Love, your fruit will abound.  Paul notes this as he writes:

3:12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.

Those who conform to this standard are called “the elect”.  These are the ones being perfected and are being raised up to minister life to those who are trapped in the world’s systems.  The elect are being perfected at this very hour and as you might imagine, the bonding agent is Love:

14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.

Ultimately in order to be above approach, you must walk in Love.

False Philosophies

September 10th, 2014

The word “philosophy” means love of wisdom.  Man’s philosophy is based on theory from a carnal perspective.  This carnal wisdom will surely lead you to death and destruction.  It will steer you away from the revelation of Our Lord Jesus Christ and move your focus to one of distractions.

Colossians 2:1 For I want you to know what a great conflict I have for you and those in Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh,

2 that their hearts may be encouraged, being knit together in love, and attaining to all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the knowledge of the mystery of God, both of the Father and of Christ,

3 in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

Our hearts are to be encouraged and joined together in Love.  We are to be united in one conclusion.  That conclusion is that the attaining of wisdom, understanding and the riches through Christ.  Notice where the treasures are hidden- in Christ.

The true riches are hidden in Christ and the key to unlocking those hidden treasures is Agape Love.  Wisdom, understanding, and knowledge are attained as we are knit together in Love.  Love moves us to become a servant for all of mankind, not just those who deserve it in our eyes.  None were deserving when Our Lord Jesus Christ went to the Cross for all of mankind.  All were vessels of dishonor.  Those riches are reserved for those who are found worthy through Christ.

4 Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words.

5 For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.

6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

As we are rooted and grounded in Love, rooted in Him, established in faith, we will then be able to see through the philosophies of men and their empty deceit.  Their views are based according to worldly principles, not Christ’s.  Their love of wisdom is counterfeit to the Love of Christ.  They would have the old man believe that by seeking out worldly wisdom, you will arise in godliness.  This counterfeit path leads to death and destruction.  We must resist the temptation to substitute true Love with love of wisdom.  Paul states:

1 Corinthians 2:4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

And he continues:

1 Corinthians 3:19  For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness”;

Paul further states:

1 Corinthians 4:14  That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Today I warn you against blindly accepting everything men speak or write.  It is up to each of us to discern what we receive in our hearts.  We must protect our heart from the world’s cunning and crafty attempts to lead us astray.  Even well-meaning brethren are subject to error, including myself.  Each of us are at a different level of maturity.  Those of us who have been followers of Christ for years must be careful to be led by the Spirit each and every day.  Those who are less mature are more easily impacted by those who appear to be seasoned.  Each of us should assess our current path to see if some doctrine has diverted us off course.  Don’t be deceive by false philosophies which present themselves as truth when in fact they are just man’s carnal wisdom packaged up to exalt the one who promotes such views .

The Choice of Life or Death

September 9th, 2014

Our Heavenly Father whose Divine Intent is Love, gives us choices of which path to take in our lives.  If it were not so, chapter 30 of Deuteronomy as countless other passages would have to be cut out of Scripture.  Love demands a choice for we are not robots walking around totally programmed to a precise, predetermined path.  Our Heavenly Father is also sovereign but these two characteristics can and do co-reside with each other.  HE may allow us to determine our individual paths in life but in the end HE will reconcile each of us to HIM.  Each of us decides the path and when alternate paths are presented to us, we are given the right to decide which path to take.  One path leads to life and the fullness thereof and the others lead to death and destruction.  As for me, I choose life.

Our Heavenly Father gave the children of Israel the choice.  We are HIS inheritance today as they were back then thus this passage is as applicable to us at it was to them.  It boils down to a simple question:  Which kingdom do you want to live in?  The two kingdoms are described as “life and good” or “death and evil”:

Deuteronomy 30:15 “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil,

The first kingdom is based on Love:

16 in that I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess.

The other kingdom is based on “self” or ego:

17 But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess.

We are given a legal and lawful opportunity to choose thus you cannot claim it is anyone else’s fault that you are dealing with judgments that come upon you:

19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live;

Love, obey, and cling (hold fast):

20 that you may love the LORD your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”

How simple is this decision?  Our Heavenly Father tells us just prior to asking for a decision:

11 “For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it out of reach.

12 It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’

13 Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’

14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it.

Each of us is given the choice of two paths.  This choice will be presented many times throughout our life-  to continue on the straight path, or to veer off onto the path of death and destruction.  There will be times the decision will not be popular with others.  There will be times of apparent isolation and even silence.  Not to worry, the Love of Our Heavenly Father will sustain as we proceed on the path of Life.  However, it is your choice.  Choose Life!
