Gad; A House Being Divided

July 6th, 2019

Our Beloved Brother Alan has added a new installment to his study of the sons of Jacob:

As the story of Jacob, as revealed through the names of his sons, continues to unfold we see a continuing saga of chaos, disharmony and turmoil.  We read of the ongoing patterns that reveal the painful growth of a family that is experiencing all of the symptoms of dysfunction and crisis that many of us can recognize in our own family histories.  These inevitable malfunctions are the predictable events that are insured by a household consisting of one husband, two wives that are competitive sisters, and two concubines that are under the authoritative management of the individual sisters.  A lifestyle of this making is destined for trouble, and as the crescendo increases, also increases the likelihood of a major disruption, or split.  Jacob’s family troubles are getting worse, and can only go downhill from here. This broken and splintered family that is developing is indeed the beginnings of ‘Jacob’s trouble’ that Jeremiah wrote about, which all began to spin out of control when Jacob was willing to access the birthright by deception and deceit.  “Oh, what tangled webs we weave, when first we practice to deceive”.

We left off following this saga with the birthing of Naphtali to Bilhah, the handmaid to Rachel.  Bilhah, as you remember, was given to Rachel as handmaid by her father Laban when she married Jacob.  When Leah was conceiving and birthing sons to Jacob, and Rachel could not conceive, Rachel gave her handmaid Bilhah to Jacob as a wife.  Jacob dutifully sired two sons with Bilhah, whom Rachel named Dan and Naphtali.  Leah also received a handmaid as gift from her father Laban.  The handmaid to Leah was Zilpah, and when Leah realized that she was no longer getting pregnant, she gave her handmaid Zilpah to Jacob as wife, and Jacob, nice guy that he was, dutifully impregnated Zilpah.  Zilpah bore a son to Jacob, and Leah named the child Gad.  This is where this narrative of the sons of Jacob takes a conspicuous twist.  Keep in mind that a major motivation of this series of articles about the twelve sons of Jacob/Israel is to show a distinct parallel of the progression of the names of these sons of Jacob with our own personal individual experiences on our journey from ‘adam’ to Christ.Jacob’s journey to an identity as Israel is synonymous with our own journey from ‘adam’ to Christ.  The parallels are unmistakable.  And just as Jeremiah prophesied about Jacob being saved ‘out from’ his troubles (Jeremiah 30:7), so shall all receive their ‘saving’ in Christ.

NKJ Genesis 30:9-11;“When Leah saw that she had stopped bearing, she took Zilpah her maid and gave her to Jacob as wife. And Leah’s maid Zilpah bore Jacob a son. Then Leah said, “A troop comes!” So she called his name Gad.

Of all of these ‘names’ of the sons of Jacob that have been investigated to this point, this ‘name’ of Gad was the most difficult to understand; at least for me.  But if these ‘names’ of the sons of Jacob, birthed by these different women, are of any Spiritual benefit to our own understanding, we must recognize the spiritual implications of these individual ‘names’.  These names have proven to reveal a progression to this point, so we must assume that Gad will also reveal a progression of spiritual illumination; once we plumb the mystery of what these names are revealing to us.

“Then Lead said, ‘A troop (gad) comes’!”  Could it be that Leah is offering a prophecy, maybe even unwittingly, about the coming troubles of this tribal family that is to later be referred to as ‘Israel’?

The name ‘Gad’ has been loosely translated into English as ‘troop’.  While this name may have some relevance to the quantity that this family is becoming, describing ‘gad’ as a troop does very little to reveal the spiritual chaos and dysfunction that this family is becoming.  The name ‘Gad’ comes from the three-letter root verb of ‘gadad’, Strong’s # H1413 and #1414.  This verb, ‘gadad’, is recognized as a cutting process; as the cutting down or felling of trees, and the cutting of stalks of grain into sheaves for harvesting.  This verb also refers to the cutting into the skin of people.  Many warrior cultures have a legacy of cutting into their skin to mark and scar themselves as a means of making themselves distinct from other peoples.  Sometimes this is done to send terror and fear to the opposition.  But it is also used as a means of motivating the ones cutting themselves into a more intense fighting mode, as if cutting into yourself will make you a more fierce antagonist.  This process of cutting into skin is referred to as ‘gah-dude’, Strong’s # H1416, and is used many times throughout the Old Testament language.

There are scriptural references to this activity of cutting into self, and most of these are warnings to avoid this type behavior, for it is not becoming of the sons of God.  Deut. 14:1, 1Kings 18:28 and Jeremiah 16:6 are all references to this process of marking one’s self by cutting into the skin.  However, the most prevalent use of this word is in the idea of groups of people ‘cutting off’, or separating into bands or ‘troops’, for the purpose of distancing themselves from identity with others.  This latter form as ‘separation’ became the most prevalent use of this word ‘gadad’, in all of its numerous forms.  The most recognizable idea of the word ‘gadad’, Strong’s # H1413, was when it was used to refer to those of the family of Jacob that had ‘cut themselves off’, or separated themselves into bands or ‘troops’ to distinguish that they did not continue to identify with, nor have comradery with, their previous tribal family. Psalm 94:21, Jeremiah 5:7 and Jeremiah 47:5 are examples of this ‘separation’ by cutting off.  And Micah 5:1 uses this word three times in one verse.  This word is also used in Joshua 3:15 and 4:18 and Isaiah 8:7, which Strong’s designates as #H1415, where it is translated as ‘banks’, as in the banks of a river, to indicate where the rivers water ceases, and the land begins.  Isaiah 8:7 is a metaphorical reference to the might of the king of Assyria coming up over his ‘banks’, describing the recognized limitations of the king of Assyria, to punish the apostate ‘people of the LORD’.

So, why would this word ‘gadad’ be used as a name for one of the sons of Jacob?  What was Leah seeing, spiritually, that caused her to call this child Gad?  What division or cutting off or separations did Leah sense in the birth of this son that compelled her to name him Gad?  Many, in their religious musings, have described this word ‘gad’ as referring to a troop that abounds in blessing and benevolent prosperity.  But if this were so, why is the most prevalent use of this verb form referring to separation, isolation and/or division?  Something is wrong with the ‘theology’ that ascribes ‘gad’ to an abundance of prosperity and success.  However, if we recognize that the word ‘gadad’ is referring to a time, or set of circumstances, that impel or compel an individual separation from familiar identities, then this word makes perfect spiritual sense.  I believe Leah was prophesying of a coming ‘separation’ within the mindset of the descendants of Jacob, all experiencing their own individual journeys to Christ.  And that ‘coming separation’ would require that the individual sojourner ‘gadad’, or separate and cut themselves off, from the domination of their previous familial identity, in order to take their destiny into another direction; a direction that eventually leads them to the Cross of Calvary, and to resurrection out from among the dead.  For this is just what was prophesied in Jeremiah 30:7. In this scenario of thought, naming the ‘seventh’ son of Jacob ‘Gad’ speaks volumes.

KJV Genesis 30:11 And Leah said, A troop (separation) cometh: and she called his name Gad.

If Leah was prophesying of a coming separation, an individual coming separation that could and would apply to us all as individuals, that ‘prophecy’ should be confirmed somewhere in the scriptures.  I believe that confirmation is revealed in Gen. 49:19.  Many recognize that Genesis 49 is the prophetic vision of Jacob, near the end of his life, where he reveals his own vision of the ‘Sons of Jacob’, the twelve sons that will eventually be recognized as Israel.  In this narrative, Jacob speaks the vision he has for his own twelve sons, a vision that only a father in his old age could reveal.  When Jacob gets to his vision of Gad, the surprise of the millennia is revealed.

KJV Genesis 49:19 “Gad (gadad), a troop (gadad) shall overcome (gadad) him: but he shall overcome (gadad) at the last”.  All of these words in brackets are from the root verb ‘gadad’.  Remember, this word ‘gadad’ is referring to ‘separation’.

Allow me to translate this verse in my own South Carolina Hebrew descriptions.

“Gad (separated); a troop (separation) shall overcome (separate) him: but, he shall overcome (separate himself) at the last.”  The wonderful surprise of this verse is revealed in the words translated as “…at the last.”   For the words “…at the last” in this verse are translated from one Hebrew word; the word from which we get the name ‘Jacob’.  WoW!!!  For thousands of years this verse has concealed this mystery: the phrase “…at the last” meant that eventually Gad would overcome by separating himself from his Jacob identity.  For ‘Jacob’, as an identity, has to die to self before ‘Israel’ can be realized and expressed.  Jacob gives us one sentence to declare about the future manifestation of the legacy of Gad.  And in that one brief sentence, Jacob describes the entirety of the message of the Gospel; we must die to self to recognize our Christ Identity.  And some say there is no God!  Tell that to Gad.

We Are The Word

July 5th, 2019

In the beginning was The Word.  A word is a single distinct meaningful element of speech that conveys a thought from one to another.  It is written by THE SPIRIT in Hebrews chapter 1:

1 God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets,

2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds;

3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

Words contain power and the Words of Jesus contain the power from On High.  His Words reign supreme over Heaven and earth.  His Words are greater than angels or any other messenger sent to us thus we must never attempt to depreciate His Words given to direct and instruct us.

As we embrace the Words of Jesus, His power grows inside of us, preparing us to rule and reign with Him and in the same manner as He ruled when He walked the earth.  Was He ever subjected to the wiles of the devil?  Not in any manner whatsoever.

We must watch our words as we interact with others and not allow ourselves to speak anything but Love and express faith IN HIM.  The world wants us to enter into debate and argument in various areas but we must not allow ourselves to be enticed by the subtle attempts to draw us away from our purpose on earth.

Why compromise our inheritance by allowing ourselves to drift away and enter into the world’s rhetoric which promotes division among family and friends?  It is better to remain silent than to participate in the divisive discussions initiated by men’s egos.

The Beloved Disciple wrote by THE SPIRIT in John chapter 14:

7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”

8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”

9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.

11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.

As we come into full maturity as Sons and Daughters of Our Heavenly Father, we too will speak in like manner and testify “The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.”  We will no longer have any hesitancy to speak such Words because we no longer have the flesh impacting our walk.  We will have the same full confidence as Our Elder Brother when we testify of our Sonship and we will have the same confirming works as Jesus.

In our full maturity, we too will become The Word made flesh and dwell among the people.  Paul wrote by THE SPIRIT in Philippians chapter 2:

5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.

8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

As we become fully mature Sons and Daughters, we are to embrace the same rich inheritance as Jesus.  We will walk in the same equality as Our Elder Brother because Our Heavenly Father initiated HIS Divine Plan to have full and complete fellowship with those who fully embrace Agape Love and desire to be One with HIM.  Let our words come to express our inheritance and the power associated with such inheritance!

Only Believe

July 4th, 2019

Luke recorded by THE SPIRIT in Luke chapter 8:

40 So it was, when Jesus returned, that the multitude welcomed Him, for they were all waiting for Him.

41 And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue. And he fell down at Jesus’ feet and begged Him to come to his house, 42 for he had an only daughter about twelve years of age, and she was dying.

The name Jairus means “whom God enlightens”, how appropriate!  Jairus recognized the power resident in Jesus and was desperate for his daughter’s life.  He was not hesitant to seek Jesus’ healing power for he knew that if Jesus was unable to heal the girl, she would soon be dead.  However, the crowd hindered Jesus from proceeding to Jairus’ house:

… But as He went, the multitudes thronged Him.

43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any,

44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.

45 And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?”

When all denied it, Peter and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ”

46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.”

47 Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.

48 And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”

Can you imagine how Jairus felt when Jesus stopped to address the woman?  In his mind, time was of the essence and his daughter would soon die if Jesus didn’t heal her right away.

The woman with the issue of blood was desperate as well.  She had lived with this chronic disease for twelve years and there was no relief in sight until Jesus arrived on the scene.  She had heard of His power to heal and believed the reports.  Her faith came by hearing the Word of His healing power and wanted access to this power so that she would be restored to health.  The physicians of her day had no cure but took her money anyway.  Sound familiar?

In the meantime, Jairus was becoming fearful that Jesus would be too late.  How do you think he felt about the woman with the issue of blood taking precious time from Jesus?

49 While He was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, “Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the Teacher.”

50 But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.”

51 When He came into the house, He permitted no one to go in except Peter, James, and John, and the father and mother of the girl.

52 Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, “Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping.”

53 And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead.

54 But He put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Little girl, arise.”

55 Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He commanded that she be given something to eat.

56 And her parents were astonished, but He charged them to tell no one what had happened.

In the context of this passage, Jesus both healed and raised the dead.  The child and woman were connected by time- twelve years.  The woman had been sick and suffered as long as the little girl had been alive.  Which one needed the healing and restorative power of Jesus more?  There was no need for Jesus to choose, He would minister to both.

Agape Love has no inherent limitation thus we need not be concerned about the limitation of time or distance.  FATHER operates outside of time and is not restricted in any way.  In one instance, the woman’s faith in Jesus Christ healed her whereas Jesus commanded life to come forth to the little girl.  She exercised no faith herself.  Note that when her life was restored, she was no longer sick.  Jesus’ power fully restored her to life.

We must remove fear and unbelief from our midst.  Instead, FATHER wants us to walk in faith and trust IN HIM.  We need to expect what the world calls “unexpected”, also known as miracles.

The difference in our path known as “The Way” is the miracle-working power we are called to walk in.  Our faith must work by Agape Love and as we pursue the full revelation of Agape Love, miracles will become commonplace as they were with Jesus, Our Elder Brother.  Let us not settle for anything less.  These writings are meant to assist in moving us into the full maturity and understanding of this Truth.  Only believe!

Our Plans

July 3rd, 2019

Wisdom wrote in Proverbs chapter 19:

21 Many plans are in a man’s mind,

But it is the Lord’s purpose for him that will stand (be carried out).

Over the course of my life, I have had many plans, ideas, and imaginations about what to pursue with the time and resources available to me.  I have set up businesses based on what I thought were good ideas and found out the difference between my plan and FATHER’S plan.  HIS plan always works whereas my plan only has at best, the world’s odds of working.

I know the difference between activities backed by HIS favor and all other opportunities arising out of my mind.  Clearly my desire is to only pursue those plans supported by THE SPIRIT which ultimately are intended to bring forth life and blessing.  All else is simply a waste of time and resources and tends to bring forth stress in one’s life.

It is written by THE SPIRIT in Hebrews chapter 4:

12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.

Some people become infatuated with new ideas or possible inventions.  The word infatuation a feeling of foolish or obsessively strong love for, admiration for, or interest in someone or something and is normally short-lived.  We must allow The Holy Spirit to lead us when our creative juices are flowing so that we don’t allow ourselves to be driven off course.

The adversary is an expert in the area of misdirection.  He will entice us with plans and ideas which will take our focus off of our calling and enslave us to a path of over commitment and underachievement.  His methods are extremely subtle but are no match for one who is led by The Holy Spirit.

FATHER has a Divine Plan.  You and I were created through Divine means and HE has a Divine purpose for each of us and that purpose is included within HIS Grand Plan.  Consider those men and women found in Hebrews chapter 11.  Each one fulfilled a portion of FATHER’S overall plan, even in their later years.

Our individual plans are intended to line up with our Divine purpose.  Let us not be tempted to deviate from our purpose because of being intrigued with opportunities which arise.  We must discern whether those opportunities are meant to further our purpose or if they are simply misdirections by the adversary.

We do not need to force our purpose to come to pass.  FATHER will open the doors at the right time, at the right place, and in the correct manner.  Your Divine purpose will draw you toward its fulfillment unless you resist it.  Your resistance causes delay and lack of peace.  This is why we should prepare ourselves on a daily basis to hear FATHER and be led by THE SPIRIT.  If we do this on a consistent basis, peace will prevail in our hearts and FATHER will exalt us in due time.

No Separation

July 2nd, 2019

Man’s ego promotes the idea of independence and separation from FATHER as though FATHER is found somewhere in the distant heavens and has the ability to show up when called.  Nothing could be further from the Truth.

Jeremiah wrote by THE SPIRIT in chapter 17:

9 “The heart is deceitful above all things,

And desperately wicked;

Who can know it?

10 I, the LORD, search the heart,

I test the mind,

Even to give every man according to his ways,

According to the fruit of his doings.”

FATHER makes an emphatic statement concerning the heart of man- it is deceitful and desperately wicked.  How would a distant GOD know this?  FATHER is not distant from HIS creation for HIS SPIRIT is everywhere.  Jesus spoke to Nicodemus in John chapter 3:

5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Jesus likened The Holy Spirit to the wind which is found everywhere on earth but cannot be seen.  Do you really think FATHER is not aware of your every thought and action?  How can a righteous Judge rule without all the facts?  By definition, FATHER knows our hearts and our intents.

It is written by THE SPIRIT in Genesis chapter 3:

8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

9 Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”

10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

The “cool of the day” is actually the Hebrew word ruwach.  This word means:

wind, breath, mind, spirit.  Adam and Eve hid themselves from the “sound” of THE SPIRIT of FATHER as though they could be physically separated from The Holy Spirit.  As a result of their sin, they believed they could be separated and isolated from THE SPIRIT.  This belief as prevailed among men ever since.

Jesus spoke in Matthew chapter 6:

6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

FATHER is ever present to hear our righteous prayers and will respond accordingly.  The Holy Spirit is also ever present in our individual “temples” thus we are never alone or forsaken.  There is not one person on this earth who is fully separated from FATHER for HE searches the hearts of all men.

Paul wrote by THE SPIRIT in 1 Corinthians chapter 2:

13 These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one.

16 For “who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

The whole issue boils down to this.  Man’s ego has tried to separate man from FATHER and The Holy Spirit but has been fully deceived in his darkness.  Man is simply unable to recognize the Truth that The Holy Spirit is everywhere and can be found when this blindness is lifted.  We need a Spiritual awakening to occur today and FATHER is preparing us to rule and reign so that we can minister the exact Truth of FATHER’S Divine plan of Love.  Jesus showed us The Way so that we could be fully prepared for this eventuality.  Let us not cease in our determination toward full maturity IN HIM.

High Spiritual Activity

July 1st, 2019

Upon awakening this morning, I sensed a high level of spiritual activity brought about by the adversary. It was most important to deal with it thus I did not write a blog as usual… Just to let you know. Some of you may have had a similar experience today or it may have been confined to the personal level only.

Dying To The Flesh

June 30th, 2019

How do I “die to the flesh”?  This question causes one to think that they must take certain steps to evoke death to their flesh but we must focus on the positive aspect of living unto Christ.  Paul wrote by THE SPIRIT in Romans chapter 12:

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

If I pursue full acceptance to FATHER, my flesh is not being fed in any manner and is weakened to the point of dying.  I am removing any and all sustenance to my flesh.  As I present my body as a living sacrifice to FATHER’S perfect plan, will, and purpose for my life, I am being transformed by the renewing of my mind.  This renewal is accomplished by reading, studying, and hearing FATHER’S Word consistently thus removing unbelief from my midst.

If I change my focus to worldly matters and events, my mind ceases to be renewed and I lose my first Love.  The categories of worldly matters are found in the Beloved Disciple’s writing by THE SPIRIT in 1 John chapter 2:

15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.

17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

Each one of us has a decision to make on a daily basis- pursue FATHER and HIS Word or pursue “all that is in the world” and lose our first Love.  The battle for our focus is in our mind and thus we must discipline our mind by building up our spirit.  The most direct way I know of is found in Jude 1 given to us by THE SPIRIT:

20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

This is why I emphasized praying in THE SPIRIT daily for this will keep us in the Love of Our Heavenly Father.  What a simple solution!  When I pray in THE SPIRIT, I build up my faith and at the same time, remove unbelief and die to the flesh… little by little until I arrive at full maturity.

The Old Testament cannot transform our minds in the manner Romans 12:2 refers to.  Paul wrote by THE SPIRIT in 2 Corinthians chapter 3:

12 Therefore, since we have such hope, we use great boldness of speech—

13 unlike Moses, who put a veil over his face so that the children of Israel could not look steadily at the end of what was passing away.

14 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ.

15 But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart.

16 Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. 18 But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Transformation is accomplished by focusing on the New Testament hence that is why I believe FATHER has me focus on the Gospels and Epistles.  We need full transformation and this is primarily done by studying the New Testament.  Don’t get me wrong, the Old Testament metaphors and parables primarily point to Jesus Christ and thus we should not discount the Old Testament in any way.  However, let us focus on the Words of Jesus Christ and the Epistles given by The Holy Spirit to accomplish the transformation.

Saul was an expert on the Old Testament and he killed.  When his mind was transformed and became Paul, he became a man of Agape Love.  I trust that each of us has the desire to be transformed where we become mature Sons and Daughters and walk in Agape Love as well.  When we have become fully transformed, our flesh will have shriveled up and died.

Judgment Is Coming

June 29th, 2019

Isaiah wrote by THE SPIRIT in chapter 5:

20  Woe (judgment is coming) to those who call evil good, and good evil;

Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness;

Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!  AMPL

And in Proverbs chapter 17:

15  He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just,

Both of them alike are an abomination to the LORD.

There are many social groups of various types who are attempting to redefine the Truth and the facts.  These passages are quite clear concerning the ramification of these movements.

The term “perverse” means to alter (something) from its original course, meaning, or state to a distortion or corruption of what was first intended.  FATHER formed each of us in the womb with a specific Divine Intent.  Any alteration is rationalized by individuals through redefinition to satisfy their lusts and/or pride.  Their darkness will only be removed when The Light arrives in their midst.  Selah!

Our Words

June 28th, 2019

Wisdom speaks to us in Proverbs chapter 16:

24 Pleasant words are like a honeycomb,

Sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.

And in chapter 21:

21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue,

And those who love it will eat its fruit.

When you understand the importance and power in words we speak, we can speak health over ourselves.  As we walk in the pureness of our heart and are led by THE SPIRIT, our words reflect the righteousness of Our Heavenly Father.  We will not ask amiss but will ask according to HIS plan, will, and purpose for us.  If our particular calling requires certain resources to fulfill our mandate, we are not to hesitate in asking FATHER for them.  Jesus spoke in Mark chapter 11:

22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.

23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.

Isn’t that the essence of the prayer of a righteous man as James wrote in chapter 5:

“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

Those who grew up in the “faith movement” of the 1970’s and 80’s focused on using the formula of “name it and claim it” in order to obtain finances and possessions.  They were compelled to give to the ministry as the necessary seed for their harvest.  Those ministries financially flourished but many people ended up with less money and possibly regret that they failed to follow the formula properly.

The evangelist did not emphasize walking in righteousness and being led by THE SPIRIT.  Some of those same evangelists were caught up in sin and lawlessness themselves.  However, this does not negate the Gospel of the Words of Jesus.

Jesus never spoke words of unbelief and neither should we.  Words of pride are any words which deviate from who we are in Christ.  Those who are arrogant are full of pride.  Also, those who attempt to demean themselves as worthless are full of pride for they are not accepting who they are in Christ by their own words.  Wisdom wrote in Proverbs chapter 16:

18 Pride goes before destruction,

And a haughty spirit before a fall.

When we hear ourselves speak words which do not line up with FATHER’S Word, we are promoting a life of unbelief and we continue to convince ourselves of being separated from The Holy Spirit within us.  We are effectively allowing our self interest to grow stronger thus becoming spiritually weaker.  I urge you to reverse this process for you are a child of GOD and HE makes no mistakes.

Jesus spoke in Mathew chapter 10:

32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.

33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.”

Our confession confirms what is in our hearts.  We must speak words of blessing over ourselves and others, not demeaning words.  Words of encouragement bring forth hope and life, biting words bring forth destruction.  As I mentioned months ago, confessing Colossians 1:10-11 will help build you up and strengthen your spirit:

I walk worthy of FATHER, fully pleasing HIM, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of FATHER;  strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy.

Amen!

Our Every Thought

June 26th, 2019

David wrote by THE SPIRIT in Psalm 139:

1 O LORD, You have searched me and known me.

2 You know my sitting down and my rising up;

You understand my thought afar off.

3 You comprehend my path and my lying down,

And are acquainted with all my ways.

4 For there is not a word on my tongue,

But behold, O LORD, You know it altogether.

And Wisdom wrote in Proverbs chapter 15:

26 The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the LORD,

But the words of the pure are pleasant.

FATHER knows every thought we have even before we speak.  There is nothing hidden from HIM thus we must deal with our thought life if we are to become mature Sons and Daughters of GOD.  We must get rid of those selfish thoughts, thoughts of revenge, and condescending thoughts toward others.  We can no longer hold bitterness or anger within.  What is the solution?  We must renew our minds as Paul wrote by THE SPIRIT in Romans chapter 12:

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

When our minds are renewed, our thoughts align with The Word and our hearts become pure.  The result is that we die to the flesh and speak the Truth in Love.  Jesus revealed in Matthew chapter 5:

8 Blessed are the pure in heart,

For they shall see God.

Proverbs 23: 7 tells us “As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.”  Our thoughts precede our actions as Jesus spoke in Matthew chapter 12:

33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.

34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.

36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

When you think wrong, you act wrong and then wonder why your life is not being blessed by FATHER.  The Word has all the answers to life’s problems if we will only pursue a life of living according to the precepts given to us in FATHER’S Word.

Wisdom tells us in Proverbs chapter 15:

8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD,

But the prayer of the upright is His delight.

9 The way of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD,

But He loves him who follows righteousness.

The Amplified Version expresses:

9 The way [of life] of the wicked is hateful and exceedingly offensive to the Lord,

But He loves one who pursues righteousness [personal integrity, moral courage and honorable character].

10 There is severe discipline for him who turns from the way [of righteousness];

And he who hates correction will die.

Yes, Agape Love brings for “severe discipline” as needed.  Unconditional Love does not passively accept sin and lawlessness as some groups want to believe and convince us to accept as Truth.  It is our responsibility to control our thoughts and not allow lawlessness and perversion to be found in us.  Paul wrote by THE SPIRIT in 2 Corinthians chapter 10:

4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,

5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ

Do not take these words lightly or else correction is on the horizon.  Its severity may be tied to how much needs to be cleaned out of one’s mind.  Each of us has been given the ability to control our thoughts so let’s exercise that ability beginning today.
