As we mature in Christ, we must maintain the proper mindset!
When people see and experience the supernatural power of GOD, many will exalt and heap praises on the vessel who was used. We must resist such accolades and point them to Christ and Our Heavenly Father.
Jesus spoke in John 15:
7 But if you live in life-union with Me and if My Eords live powerfully within you—then you can ask whatever you desire and it will be done.
8 When your lives bear abundant fruit, you demonstrate that you are My mature disciples who glorify My Father!
Those who are mature in Christ will produce abundant fruit in all areas, including healing and deliverance.
Jesus had to correct the seventy who successfully returned from such ministry.
Jesus spoke in Luke chapter 10:
1 After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His Face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go.
2 Then He said to them, “The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.
3 Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves.
4 Carry neither money bag, knapsack, nor sandals; and greet no one along the road. 5 But whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’
6 And if a son of peace is there, your peace will rest on it; if not, it will return to you.
7 And remain in the same house, eating and drinking such things as they give, for the laborer is worthy of his wages. Do not go from house to house.
8 Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you.
9 And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The Kingdom of God has come near to you.’
The seventy missionaries returned after fulfilling Jesus’ instructions.
17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your Name.”
18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in Heaven.”
We are to exalt Christ for all the righteous fruit we produce in His Name! We must take our identity in Christ, not the problem or its resolution. Jesus was never moved by the size of the problem.
The disciples were feeling pretty good about themselves until they failed to cast out a particular demon.
Mark recorded by The Holy Spirit in Mark chapter 9:
17 Then one of the crowd answered and said, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit.
18 And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.”
19 Jesus answered him and said, “O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me.”
20 Then they brought him to Him. And when he saw Him, immediately the spirit convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and wallowed, foaming at the mouth.
The demon did not intimidate Jesus.
21 So He asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood.
22 And often he has thrown him both into the fire and into the water to destroy him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.”
23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”
Jesus did not require the man to have great faith and was not moved by the man’s unbelief. He dealt with the issue anyway.
25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, He rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it: “Deaf and dumb spirit, I command you, come out of him and enter him no more!”
26 Then the spirit cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.”
27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose.
Jesus had no problem in casting out the demon.
28 And when He had come into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?”
29 So He said to them, “This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.”
Fasting indicates that our lives must be saturated with the Presence of GOD in order to conquer the evil that is in the world and hiding in the hearts of mankind. Fasting is much more than just starving yourself. Our priority is to remove any hindrance that would keep us from entering into HIS Presence.
