John the Baptist gave notice of the purging which was about to happen:
Matthew 3:10 And even now the ax is laid to the root of the trees. Therefore every tree which does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
12 His winnowing fan is in His hand, and He will thoroughly clean out His threshing floor, and gather His wheat into the barn; but He will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”
Trees generally refer to men in Scripture and if you are not bearing good fruit then you are subject to judgment. Doing nothing produces no fruit thus we should be seeking FATHER’S specific will for us so that we bear fruit in the area of our gifts and calling. Some men are called to become businessmen to fund the Gospel. Sadly, most keep their proceeds for their own use and restrict the Gospel from freely flowing. Fortunately FATHER intervenes and brings forth resources from other means and sources. Some men naturally have favor among others but they use their gift to consume resources on their own lusts and they end up owing everybody in town. They are called to connect the body of Christ but bear no fruit. The lost opportunities list goes on.
FATHER is not unaware of those who are not producing fruit and will remove their unproductiveness even if it means their total removal. Some will only require minor pruning but others will be subjected to extremes. I believe we have been in a pruning stage in recent times and each of us should embrace the removal of anything unproductive in our lives.
What percentage of the time would you like to be led by THE SPIRIT? 20%, 50%, 80% or 100%? Your soul has some good ideas but HIS SPIRIT has the best and appropriate ideas. How would you like to have every action be 100% correct? Many believe that is impossible yet Jesus our Elder Brother walked in 100% obedience to FATHER.
In John chapter 15, the beloved disciple wrote the words Jesus Himself spoke:
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.”
Are you interested in glorifying FATHER or yourself? Are your resources available for FATHER or reserved for your soul’s use? These are tough questions and you can disregard them in the privacy of your home without anyone looking you in the eye. However the HOLY SPIRIT knows your heart and you have no place to hide but you must confront your own intent and see if it truly aligns with FATHER’S Divine Intent. In the above passage, Jesus makes it perfectly clear what happens to those who don’t abide in Him.
“FATHER, prune, purge, and remove anything inside of me that hinders me from abiding fully in YOUR Perfect Plan, Will, and Purpose!”
So be it.
