Seedtime and harvest insure the perpetuation of life. Those who grasp this aspect of Wisdom and understanding will promote life in all their affairs.
Paul wrote by The Holy Spirit in Galatians chapter 6:
7 God will never be mocked! For what you plant will always be the very thing you harvest. 8 The harvest you reap reveals the seed that you planted. If you plant the corrupt seeds of self-life into this natural realm, you can expect a harvest of corruption. If you plant the good seeds[d] of Spirit-life you will reap beautiful fruits that grow from the everlasting life of the Spirit.
9 And don’t allow yourselves to be weary in planting good seeds, for the season of reaping the wonderful harvest you’ve planted is coming! 10 Take advantage of every opportunity to be a blessing to others, especially to our brothers and sisters in the family of faith!
You can consume all your seed and be in need or you can set aside some of the seed to plant for future harvests thus supporting life in your future. My wife and I can testify of this reality for our entire adult lives.
You can’t judge a man’s heart but you can certainly inspect his fruit which will give you revelation of where he is at spiritually.
It is written by THE SPIRIT in 2nd Kings chapter 4:
1 A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, saying, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves.”
2 So Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?” And she said, “Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.”
The woman’s husband was a student of the prophets and knew Elisha. Furthermore, he left his wife in debt to the point where her sons would become slaves in order to pay the debt so the debt had to be substantial. Elisha knew what was needed… the debt to be paid.
These days, people often look for loopholes to rationalize why they shouldn’t honor their debt agreement. This is a lawless act and FATHER does not condone such actions. Instead, we should look to HIM to provide a solution to our debt problem. The widow had not consumed all her oil thus Elisha was able to multiply it supernaturally. She did not challenge the prophet when he instructed her to go borrow containers. In fact, she exercised faith in the prophet’s Word.
3 Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few. 4 And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.”
5 So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out. 6 Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.”
And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So the oil ceased. 7 Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.”
If the widow had borrowed even more vessels, they would have been filled as well. Her faith and corresponding actions determined her financial blessing. She went from a borrower to a widow who had no financial need.
Jesus spoke in Matthew chapter 11:
11 “For I tell you the Truth, throughout history there has never been a man who surpasses John the Baptizer. Yet the least of those who now experience Heaven’s kingdom will become even greater than he. 12 From the moment John stepped onto the scene until now, the realm of Heaven’s kingdom is bursting forth, and passionate people have taken hold of its power. 13 For all the prophets and the Torah prophesied until John appeared. 14 If you can receive this Truth, John is the Elijah who was destined to come. 15 So listen and understand what I’m telling you.”
John the Baptist was the greatest prophet, above all the others including Elijah and Elisha. Elisha did twice the miracles of Elijah. Jesus proclaimed that we are greater than them. Why? We have been given full access to all the resources required for our callings once we were born again through Jesus Christ. Our “oil” flow is not meant to be limited if we will only appropriate it for our use. Whatever we plant, we will harvest. If we plant nothing, we will harvest nothing. Love acts!
