What Is Your Motivation?

Iniquity is the twisting of the Truth.  Those who are motivated by the flesh only do things that benefit themselves.  When they submit to their flesh and/or their soulish nature, they are on the path to death and destruction.  It may be unnoticeable at first but their road ultimately ends in despair and regret.

Paul wrote by The Holy Spirit in Romans chapter 8:

5 Those who are motivated by the flesh only pursue what benefits themselves. But those who live by the impulses of the Holy Spirit are motivated to pursue spiritual realities. 6 For the mind-set of the flesh is death, but the mind-set controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace.

7 In fact, the mind-set focused on the flesh fights God’s plan and refuses to submit to his direction, because it cannot! 8 For no matter how hard they try, God finds no pleasure with those who are controlled by the flesh.

We have been given the solution to live by and it is The Word.  As we walk in Agape Love, we sincerely desire for others to experience and embrace the Way of life.  We desire for the immature to rise up toward maturity and produce good fruit.

9 But when the Spirit of Christ empowers your life, you are not dominated by the flesh but by the Spirit. And if you are not joined to the Spirit of the Anointed One, you are not of him.

People are focused on position and not relationship.  They want to be Christians and go to Heaven but many do not desire to truly know their Heavenly Father while on earth.  When the focus moves from position to relationship, our fruit increases because we will become like Our Heavenly Father.

10 Now Christ lives his life in you! And even though your body may be dead because of the effects of sin, his life-giving Spirit imparts life to you because you are fully accepted by God. 11 Yes, God raised Jesus to life! And since God’s Spirit of Resurrection lives in you, he will also raise your dying body to life by the same Spirit that breathes life into you!

12 So then, beloved ones, the flesh has no claims on us at all, and we have no further obligation to live in obedience to it. 13 For when you live controlled by the flesh, you are about to die. But if the life of the Spirit puts to death the corrupt ways of the flesh, we then taste his abundant life.

As we live according to The Holy Spirit, the effects of sin diminish and we move toward complete restoration.  Those with ears to hear and eyes to see will pursue the Highway to Holiness.

One of the biggest hindrances to overcome is dwelling on our past failures.  The adversary wants us to live according to those failures rather than rising up to walking in FATHER’S Life-giving Spirit.  Our past sins were erased by The Blood of Jesus Christ and we must not belittle His Blood in any way, especially by holding on to those sins which were given and removed from our “books”.  What great news if we will only live by it.

Our flesh has no claims on us so we must quit listening to our flesh and accept “life”.  It is so simple yet the flesh will try everything to get your to hold on to your past.  The stronger your spirit, the weaker the flesh.

In Jude, it is written by The Holy Spirit:

20 But you, my delightfully loved friends, constantly and progressively build yourselves up on the foundation of your most holy faith by praying every moment in the Spirit.21 Fasten your hearts to the Love of God and receive the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who gives us eternal life.

22 Keep being compassionate to those who still have doubts, 23 and snatch others out of the fire to save them. Be merciful over and over to them, but always couple your mercy with the fear of God. Be extremely careful to keep yourselves free from the pollutions of the flesh.

Jude provides the necessary instruction to move toward the Highway of Holiness.  We must do our part.
