FATHER spoke in Deuteronomy chapter 28:
1 “Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments (Love being the fulfillment of all commandments) which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth.
2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God
Verses 3 through 13 provide the detailed blessings of plenty. Neither scarcity nor sickness and disease were included in this covenant. Isn’t our new covenant through Jesus Christ superior to the old covenant? Shouldn’t we expect blessings and results at least equal to those found in Deuteronomy chapter 28? In many cases, we have been placed into mental slavery by the adversary. In Genesis chapter 2 FATHER spoke:
15 Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.
16 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;
17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
FATHER provided plenty of food for Adam and Eve but warned Adam not to eat of the one tree. HE spoke this out of Love for Adam and to protect him from the evil associated with the tree. Satan came afterward to challenge The Word and convince Adam and Eve to choose death over life when he spoke to the woman:
1 Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Has God indeed said, ‘You shall not eat of every tree of the garden’?”
2 And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden;
3 but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.’ ”
4 Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die.
5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Didn’t the serpent use man’s logic and senses to enslave Adam and Eve? The serpent appealed to man’s logic to challenge FATHER’S Word and Divine Intent. Eve trusted her senses when she saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes. Her trust in logic and senses was the beginning of her enslavement by the adversary.
In Matthew chapter 4, when Jesus was approached by the devil, He did not fall for his devices:
1 Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
2 And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry.
3 Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”
Jesus would not be duped by the devil. The devil tried to use logic by questioning Jesus’ origin and he also appealed to his physical senses by tempting him to succumb to his hunger. I find it interesting that the devil would try to convince Jesus to perform a miracle in order to satisfy His physical need. The fact that the devil would tempt Christ confirmed that Jesus is the Son by asking Him to perform a miracle clearly indicates his attempt at deception. Any challenge to FATHER’S Word is meant to deceive us into accepting the path toward destruction.
FATHER’S Love provided plenty for us as well. HIS promises, when acted upon, are meant to overcome the wiles of the devil. It is imperative that we know FATHER’S Word in the areas of our need so that we can overcome the world’s logic and reasoning which only leads to death and destruction. As we are overtaken by FATHER’S Love, we will seek to become like HIM in our thoughts and deeds. Our words will reflect FATHER’S Will rather than enslavement promoted by the deceiver. We will no longer view our circumstances as impossible but instead as Jesus spoke in Mark chapter 9:
23 Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
As our revelation of FATHER’S Love increases, we will no longer be subject to the temptation of using man’s logic and reasoning or accepting what our senses tell us. Instead, we will live by every Word that proceeds from the mouth of Our Heavenly Father. Amen!
