The King Of Righteousness And Peace

THE SPIRIT wrote in Hebrews chapter 7:

1 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him,

2 to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated “king of righteousness,” and then also king of Salem, meaning “king of peace,”

The Holy Spirit clearly defined and described Melchizedek’s name in proper order.  Righteousness comes first then peace follows.  The Greek word for peace is eirēnē and  means security, safety, prosperity, felicity, (because peace and harmony make and keep things safe and prosperous).  Its Hebrew counterpart is the word shalowm and means:

completeness, soundness, welfare, peace

  1. completeness (in number)

  2. safety, soundness (in body)

  3. welfare, health, prosperity

  4. peace, quiet, tranquility, contentment

  5. peace, friendship

    1. of human relationships

    2. with God especially in covenant relationship

  6. peace (from war)

As we take Holy Communion by the revelation first provided in Genesis chapter 14, then confirmed by Jesus during the Last Supper, and explained in Hebrews chapters 5 through 7, we should expect to receive peace, safety, health, friendship, and prosperity.  Our physical bodies will ultimately line up with the Spiritual as the revelation grows inside of us and we will become whole and complete.  We must not forget Hebrews 7:7 “Now beyond all contradiction the lesser is blessed by the better.”

First righteousness, then health, healing and wholeness.   THE SPIRIT wrote in Isaiah chapter 32:

17 The work of righteousness will be peace, and the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.

Jesus spoke in Matthew chapter 6 saying:

33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

What ‘things” was He referring to?  He stated the following:

25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;

29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

Many of us have studied this in the past but it appears there is a need to pursue the deeper revelation of Holy Communion as it relates to righteousness and peace.  We should exercise our faith in that we are the righteousness of GOD through Jesus Christ and by taking Holy Communion we reinforce who we are IN HIM.  We take on His attributes as we reverently receive His Body and His Blood into our bodies and as our faith grows stronger and stronger in this area, our bodies will respond and submit to His healing power.

Many people would like a miracle healing and then go on about their business without much Spiritual change.  However, a healing that comes by growing in faith and trust will provide a lasting foundation of Spiritual strength.  As we focus on His righteousness entering our bodies, peace will come forth.  This shalowm will present itself in our lives as described in the above definition.  Jesus provides such a simple focus of “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” with a result of all the things we need in the physical realm will be taken care of by FATHER resulting in our inner wholeness and peace.

Jesus Christ paid the price for our righteousness and peace and we should never lose focus of His sacrifice.  His payment in full has allowed us to be able to fully seek FATHER’S Kingdom, righteousness, and peace in our lives.  Let us each pursue this manifestation with an emphasis of being in unity as we partake of Holy Communion.  Let it not be a custom or a tradition but let it open the door to the fullness of righteousness and peace in our lives.
