Of Faith

FATHER spoke in Genesis 15:

1 After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”

5 Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”

6 And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.

7 Then He said to him, “I am the LORD, who brought you out of Ur of the Chaldeans, to give you this land to inherit it.”

And in Genesis 17:

1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.

2 And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.”

3 Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying:

4 “As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations.

5 No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations.

6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come from you.

7 And I will establish My covenant between Me and you and your descendants after you in their generations, for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and your descendants after you.

8 Also I give to you and your descendants after you the land in which you are a stranger, all the land of Canaan, as an everlasting possession; and I will be their God.”

FATHER made an everlasting covenant with Abraham and all of his descendants.  This everlasting covenant is still in effect today and it applies to you and me so we should be ever-mindful of FATHER’S Word spoken to Abraham 430 years before the Law was given.  The Law did not change or negate Abraham’s covenant but was given because of transgressions and to become our guardian until our faith in Jesus Christ came into effect.

Paul wrote by THE SPIRIT in Galatians chapter 3:

2 This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

3 Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?

4 Have you suffered so many things in vain—if indeed it was in vain?

5 Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?—

6 just as Abraham “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

7 Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham.

8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel to Abraham beforehand, saying, “In you all the nations shall be blessed.”

9 So then those who are of faith are blessed with believing Abraham.

In these days of instant gratification, we must not be moved by the world’s orientation toward the lack of patience.  Abraham was in his nineties when FATHER was speaking to him and we should not find it difficult to accept that FATHER is interested in speaking directly to each of us as well no matter how late in life we are.  After all, we are the sons of Abraham as well.

Many denominations teach the doctrine of escapism yet the Abrahamic Covenant which is everlasting does not speak of departure but speaks of covering the earth with his descendants in all nations.  So which is it, we get raptured out of this mess or FATHER ultimately cleans up the mess and we prevail on this earth?  The covenant is clear , it is the latter.

We are to live by faith just as Abraham lived by faith and he “believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness”.  Our faith in Jesus Christ Our Lord is the cornerstone of our life on this earth and we must not let any other doctrine cause us to stray from our focus of walking by faith through Love as THE SPIRIT wrote in Galatians through the hand of Paul in chapter 5:

6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.

Each day we should exercise our faith in Love.  Let us make a positive difference in other people’s lives as we encounter those who are hurting or suffering hopelessness.  As we walk in unconditional Love, we are in fact walking by faith because we are motivated to carrying out acts of Love without condition by the receiving party.  We believe FATHER’S Word and our acts are an expression of faith in HIS Word.  The more each of us is led by THE SPRIT, the greater our faith becomes.  As THE SPIRIT wrote in Hebrews chapter 11:

6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
