The Hindrance of Doubt

Many people prefer to focus in areas where it is not necessary to walk in faith.  They would rather play it safe in the short term rather than develop their faith for fear of failure.  FATHER is looking for those who are unwavering in their Love, faith, and hope to bring about the Kingdom.

In Luke chapter 17 we find the story of the ten lepers:

11 Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

12 Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off.

13 And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”

14 So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.

15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God,

16 and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.

17 So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?

18 Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?”

19 And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”

The priests of the day needed to see proof that Jesus was the Messiah and surely ten healed lepers would satisfy any doubt.  Nine would be satisfied with being healed of the disease but one would receive the fullness of blessing by being fully restored.  This one leper dared to go beyond the initial miracle and was rewarded for his faith in Jesus’ manifested power and authority.  He had no doubt that full restoration was possible.  All ten lepers had a level of faith to go and present themselves to the priest prior to seeing the manifestation of healing but only one had great faith to receive full restoration.  At what level of faith would you be satisfied?

Jesus returned to issue the Great Commission in Matthew chapter 28:

16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them.

17 When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted.

Even seeing Jesus face to face was not enough to overcome doubt.  After all the miracles and the confirmations, doubt still enters in and people still find it difficult to walk in faith.  This is why we must keep ourselves encouraged with HIS Word to us by dwelling on it day and night.  We must not let the “noise” of the world enter in and become our focus.  We must look at FATHER as our source, not man.  Man will dangle a carrot in front of us to lead us around whereas FATHER will guided us on that narrow path of Love providing us opportunities to minister life to others.  Many are waiting for their financial ship to come in before they minister life whereas FATHER tells us to go forth and HE will provide.  Faith is necessary to spread the Gospel.  Doubt will simply cause you to stay in a passive state and produce no fruit.  In Mark 11, Jesus spoke:

22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.

23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.

24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

Believe and doubt not and you will fulfill the Great Commission!
