The Wonderful Works Of GOD

We are to speak of the wonderful works of GOD!

When people complain, they don’t understand GOD’S power to deliver and are not fully trusting in The Word to deliver them out of their own situation.

Moses recorded by The Holy Spirit in Numbers chapter 11:

23 And the LORD said to Moses, “Has the LORD’s arm been shortened? Now you shall see whether what I say will happen to you or not.”

24 So Moses went out and told the people the words of the LORD, and he gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people and placed them around the tabernacle. 25 Then the LORD came down in the cloud, and spoke to him, and took of the Spirit that was upon him, and placed the same upon the seventy elders; and it happened, when the Spirit rested upon them, that they prophesied, although they never did so again.

26 But two men had remained in the camp: the name of one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad. And the Spirit rested upon them. Now they were among those listed, but who had not gone out to the tabernacle; yet they prophesied in the camp.

27 And a young man ran and told Moses, and said, “Eldad (GOD has Loved) and Medad (Loving-one) are prophesying in the camp.”

28 So Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, one of his choice men, answered and said, “Moses my lord, forbid them!”

29 Then Moses said to him, “Are you zealous for my sake? Oh, that all the LORD’s people were prophets and that the LORD would put His Spirit upon them!”

What did the seventy elders prophesy?  They prophesied the wonderful works of GOD, but only once.  Their unbelief kicked in even though their own words prophesied otherwise.  The elders failed to enter the Promised Land as a result.

For hundreds of years, prophets spoke of the coming power and Presence of GOD coming to the earth and His Name is Jesus.  He performed the wonderful works of GOD so that the people would believe and be born again.  When He died and rose again, He made the way for The Holy Spirit to indwell in all men and carry on the same wonderful works of GOD.  To what end?  To bring forth Heaven to earth.  This culminated on the Day of Pentecost.

Consider this. 120 disciples were in the upper room of the house.  They had just been instructed by Jesus for forty days concerning the Kingdom of GOD.  They spend 10 days of preparation to come into unity, in one accord.  Let us once again consider exactly what happened.

This event was recorded by Luke in Acts chapter 2:

1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from Heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind (a roar), and it filled (them inwardly) the whole house where they were sitting.

3 Then there appeared to them divided Tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled (outwardly, furnished and equipped) with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

All of this took place in the house yet outside, thousands of people gathered round.  Why?  They heard the roar throughout Jerusalem and found where it took place.  What happened next?  The 120 disciples went outside speaking in Tongues, which was a sign to all those who gather from the city.

5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under Heaven.

6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language.

7 Bewildered, they said to one another, “Aren’t these all Galileans?

8 So how is it that we hear them speaking in our own languages?

How long did it take the disciples to learn 70 languages?  In a moment!

This was the universal remedy of the curse of Babel, where human beings were divided by languages in Genesis 11:9.  Now, in Christ, the language of The Holy Spirit unifies us all IN HIM.

So that there is no mistake of speaking in different languages, many languages are mentioned:

9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,

10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,

11 Cretans and Arabs-we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.

One aspect of speaking in Tongues is to proclaim the wonderful works of GOD.  Let us not undervalue the importance of praying in Tongues.  It is one means of offering up praise to GOD and speaking Words of thanksgiving to HIM.
