The House of GOD: Part 1

The House of GOD is not a building, It is a Rock!

The Law of first mention is the standard for describing its use elsewhere in Scripture.

Moses recorded by The Holy Spirit in Genesis chapter 28:

10 Now Jacob went out from Beersheba and went toward Haran.

11 So he came to a certain place and stayed there all night, because the sun had set. And he took one of the stones of that place and put it at his head, and he lay down in that place to sleep.

12 Then he dreamed, and behold, a ladder was set up on the earth, and its top reached to Heaven; and there the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.

13 And behold, the LORD stood above it and said: “I am the LORD God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and your descendants.

16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the LORD is in this place, and I did not know it.”

17 And he was afraid and said, “How awesome is this place! This is none other than the House of God, and this is the gate of Heaven!

A gate is something that takes you from one reality to another by some means of separation.  You are either inside or outside.  The first revelation in the entire Bible on the nature of The House of GOD has several aspects important for us to remember.  It will define everything we are.  First, it is a place where there is an open Heaven.  Second, GOD speaks through that open Heaven.  Third, angels come and go, there’s angelic activity.

There’s a gate between Heaven and the hearts and lives of people.  Prior to his dream, the revelation, Jacob had no idea that THE LORD was in this place.

18 Then Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put at his head, set it up as a pillar, and poured oil on top of it.

19 And he called the name of that place Bethel; but the name of that city had been Luz previously.

20 Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me, and keep me in this way that I am going, and give me bread to eat and clothing to put on,

21 so that I come back to my father’s house in peace, then the LORD shall be my God.

22 And this stone which I have set as a pillar shall be God’s House, and of all that You give me I will surely give a tenth to You.”

The above passage prophesies the nature of the House of GOD.

The Beloved disciple wrote by The Holy Spirit in John chapter 1:

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt (tabernacled) among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace (empowerment) and Truth.

Jesus is the tabernacle of The House of GOD, He is our Rock, our salvation.

45 Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found Him of whom Moses in the law, and also the prophets, wrote-Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.”

46 And Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”

47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward Him, and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom is no deceit!”

48 Nathanael said to Him, “How do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.”

Jesus saw him in the spiritual realm.

[49] Nathanael answered and said to Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!”

50 Jesus answered and said to him, “Because I said to you, ‘I saw you under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these.”

51 And He said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, hereafter you shall see Heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.

This is the initial fulfillment of the prophecy mentioned in Jacob’s encounter.  However, this is not the only fulfillment of that prophecy…
