Jesus speaks On Treasures

What treasures retain value?

Jesus Himself spoke concerning treasures in Matthew chapter 6:

19  “Don’t keep hoarding for yourselves earthly treasures that can be stolen by thieves. Material wealth eventually rusts, decays, and loses its value.

20 Instead, stockpile Heavenly treasures for yourselves that cannot be stolen and will never rust, decay, or lose their value.

Jesus spoke many times about money and what we should do with money.  He strongly warned us of greed and hoarding.  This may be one of the most sensitive subjects for people to deal with since it affects many aspects of our life.

At the root of hoarding is fear of the unknown and the fear of the future.

Jesus tells us where our heart is based on our actions:

21 For your heart will always pursue what you esteem as your treasure.

Your fruit will give you away as to what is in your heart.  Your “checkbook” (i.e. financial transactions) will testify to where you place your trust.

22 “The eyes of your spirit allow revelation-light to enter into your being. If your heart is unclouded, the light floods in!

23 But if your eyes are focused on money, the light cannot penetrate and darkness takes its place. How profound will be the darkness within you if the light of Truth cannot enter!

I know that this topic is extremely challenging to discern how we should handle money.  This is why it is vital to be led by The Holy Spirit in your expenditures.  He will guide you in the appropriate disbursements in all areas.

The word profound means: of deep meaning; of great and broadly inclusive significance.  Money and its uses will greatly impact our walk with Our Heavenly Father, both good and bad.  If revelation from Above can’t penetrate the darkness created by the negative effects of money, we will not walk in Truth.  This is why the adversary wants us to believe in scarcity.

Jesus continues:

24 “How could you worship two gods at the same time? You will have to hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You can’t worship the true God while enslaved to the god of money!

Who you worship is revealed by the treasure you embrace.

Now Jesus focuses on the core issue of worry:

25  “This is why I tell you to never be worried about your life, for all that you need will be provided, such as food, water, clothing—everything your body needs. Isn’t there more to your life than a meal? Isn’t your body more than clothing?

26 “Consider the birds—do you think they worry about their existence? They don’t plant or reap or store up food, yet Your Heavenly Father provides them each with food. Aren’t you much more valuable to your Father than they?

27 So, which one of you by worrying could add anything to your life?

Worry produces nothing so it is totally unproductive to worry about anything!  We are to place our trust in FATHER.

28 “And why would you worry about your clothing? Look at all the beautiful flowers of the field. They don’t work or toil,

29 and yet not even Solomon in all his splendor was robed in beauty like one of these!

30 So if God has clothed the meadow with hay, which is here for such a short time and then dried up and burned, won’t he provide for you the clothes you need—you of little faith?

Faith is the issue.  If we worry, we must then realize that our little faith must be dealt with.  Faith grows by reading, dwelling, and meditating on The Word.  It will also grow when The Holy Spirit gives you a specific Word.

31 “So then, forsake your worries! Why would you say, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’

32 For that is what the unbelievers chase after. Doesn’t your Heavenly Father already know the things your bodies require?

FATHER is very aware of our individual needs and has no problem in addressing them.  HIS abundance is greater than all of our needs combined.

Jesus tells us the solution to the money/earthly treasure issue:

33 “So above all, constantly seek God’s Kingdom and His righteousness, then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.

34 Refuse to worry about tomorrow, but deal with each challenge that comes your way, one day at a time. Tomorrow will take care of itself.”

I can attest to the revelation given directly by Jesus to us concerning money and its uses.  Know that earthly treasures will either be stolen or lose their value.  This year may be the year we see this fully exposed.

PS: This writing is for me as well as you.  I too must be reminded.
