We should be walking in GOD’S Might (kratos)!
The second aspect or function of God’s resurrection power is called kratos in the Greek. Kratos means “mastery over self, self-control or power to rein in” (like the reins of a horse). FATHER not only has given us His dunamis power—His Divine ability—to do “the impossible,” He has also given us the ability to rein in our self-life so that He can freely work in and through us.
Kratos comes from the Greek word katria, which literally means “to rein in.” God’s kratos power reins in our self-life (soulish life) and brings it into captivity so that God’s Life (from our hearts) can come forth.
Jesus spoke in Luke chapter 21:
19 By your patience possess (rein in) your souls.
In other Words:
By your patient endurance empowered by the Holy Spirit, you will gain your souls through deliverance.
Keep your souls under control so that God’s Life can come forth. Reins are often associated with our minds and with our choices. Scripture tells us we have a constant decision as to what we will choose: either “reins or cords of Love” that are held by the Lord or “reins or cords of sin” that are held by our flesh and even sometimes the enemy.
Paul wrote by The Holy Spirit in Romans chapter 6:
12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
Kratos means God’s Supernatural might to take what He has told us in His Word and then implement it in our lives, no matter how we feel, what we think, or what we want. When we make the faith choice to do His Will, God’s “kratos might” will rein in our self-life and accomplish that will in our lives regardless of everything else.
Kratos is power to “put off” our sin and self, and then power to “put on” Christ.
Kratos basically means “Spirit-control.” It is the power to rein in our emotions, knowing that in God’s timing and way, He will align our feelings to match the “faith choices” we have made. God not only gives us the emotional strength to say “not my will, but Thine,” He also aligns our feelings with the choices we have made.
Simply put, He makes us genuine.
If we are a cleansed vessel, the kratos power of God can overcome whatever our flesh desires and instead, enable us to do what God wants. FATHER has not only given us the authority to choose His will, He has also given us the power to do His will!
One of the definitions of the word power in the Old Testament is “to overcome.” It’s the Hebrew word gibbor (Strong’s #1368), which speaks of David’s “mighty men,” who were “mighty men of valor.” Regardless of how they really felt or what they wanted, they were willing to choose God’s Will and then willing to trust God to perform that Will in their lives. These mighty men were, indeed, “overcomers.”
An overcomer is simply one who is free from self to serve God. He is one who has appropriated the kratos might of the Lord in order to overcome sin, self, and the devil.
Once again, Paul wrote by The Holy Spirit in Ephesians chapter 3:
16 And I pray that He would unveil within you the unlimited riches of His glory and favor until supernatural strength floods your innermost being with His Divine might and explosive power.
It is written by THE SPIRIT in 2nd Samuel chapter 22:
33 God is my strength and power, And He makes my way perfect.
