It is written by THE SPIRIT in Isaiah chapter 58:<\/p>\n
6 \u200b\u200b\u201cIs<\/em> this not the fast that I have chosen: <\/p>\n \u200b\u200bTo loose the bonds of wickedness,<\/p>\n \u200b\u200bTo undo the heavy burdens,<\/p>\n \u200b\u200bTo let the oppressed go free,<\/p>\n \u200b\u200bAnd that you break every yoke?<\/p>\n FATHER explains the purpose of fasting by asking these questions. The fast is meant to set us free of wickedness, heavy burdens, oppression and every<\/u> yoke. How many of us need to be set free of something? I would suggest all of us have some \u201cyoke\u201d which needs to be broken or removed.<\/p>\n Jesus spoke in John 8:<\/p>\n 31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, \u201cIf you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. <\/p>\n 32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free<\/u>.\u201d<\/p>\n When we fast, we become more sensitive to hearing FATHER\u2019S Voice and receive the pure Truth thus breaking any bondage besetting us. When we are set free, we gain a deeper understanding of Agape Love. In Isaiah 58, FATHER speaks of the tangible results of this sensitivity:<\/p>\n 7 \u200b\u200bIs it<\/em> not to share your bread with the hungry, \u200b\u200bAnd that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; \u200b\u200bWhen you see the naked, that you cover him, \u200b\u200bAnd not hide yourself from your own flesh?<\/p>\n Aren\u2019t these qualities of Agape Love? You become a giver<\/em> rather than a taker<\/em>? You seek out the opportunity to minister to others rather than to set passively by while those in need continue to suffer.<\/p>\n FATHER then expresses the benefits to us as we fulfill the fast:<\/p>\n 8 \u200b\u200bThen your light shall break forth like the morning<\/u>, \u200b\u200bYour healing shall spring forth speedily, \u200b\u200bAnd your righteousness shall go before you; \u200b\u200bThe glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard.<\/p>\n 9 \u200b\u200bThen you shall call, and the LORD will answer; \u200b\u200bYou shall cry, and He will say, \u2018Here I am.<\/em>\u2019<\/p>\n \u200b\u200b\u200b\u201cIf you take away the yoke from your midst, \u200b\u200bThe pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,<\/p>\n 10 \u200b\u200bIf<\/em> you extend your soul to the hungry \u200b\u200bAnd satisfy the afflicted soul, <\/p>\n \u200b\u200bThen your light shall dawn in the darkness, \u200b\u200bAnd your darkness shall be<\/em> as the noonday.<\/p>\n 11 \u200b\u200bThe LORD will guide you continually, \u200b\u200bAnd satisfy your soul in drought, \u200b\u200bAnd strengthen your bones; \u200b\u200bYou shall be like a watered garden, \u200b\u200bAnd like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.<\/p>\n 12 \u200b\u200bThose from among you \u200b\u200bShall build the old waste places; \u200b\u200bYou shall raise up the foundations of many generations; \u200bAnd you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, \u200b\u200bThe Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.\u201d<\/p>\n \u200bThe Sons and Daughters are to be a light in this world of darkness. FATHER clearly tells us that our light shall break forth as a result of the fast done in the proper manner. We must fast with proper intent otherwise we are simply dieting. Our fast must not in any way feed our flesh whether it be physical or our ego. Our intent must be pure as we seek to commune and deny ourselves of the world\u2019s pleasures. The reward is worth the commitment.
