In the following prayer, Jesus prayed to Our Heavenly Father that we walk in unity, glory, and Love. If there are any Words of Jesus that we should fully embrace and walk in accordingly, this prayer is it!
In John chapter 17, Jesus prayed the following for you and me:
20 “And I ask not only for these disciples,
but also for all those who will one day
believe in Me through their message.
21 I pray for them all to be joined together as one
even as YOU and I, Father, are joined together as One.
I pray for them to become one with US
so that the world will recognize that you sent me.
22 For the very glory YOU have given to Me I have given them
so that they will be joined together as one
and experience the same unity that We enjoy.
23 You live fully in Me and now I live fully in them
so that they will experience perfect unity,
and the world will be convinced that YOU have sent Me,
for they will see that YOU Love each one of them
with the same passionate Love that YOU have for Me.
24 “Father, I ask that YOU allow everyone that YOU have given to Me
to be with Me where I am!
Then they will see My full glory—
the very splendor YOU have placed upon Me
because YOU have Loved Me even before the beginning of time.
25 “YOU are My righteous Father,
but the unbelieving world has never known YOU
in the perfect way that I know you!
And all those who believe in Me
also know that YOU have sent Me!
26 I have revealed to them who YOU are
and I will continue to make YOU even more real to them,
so that they may experience the same endless Love
that YOU have for Me,
for YOUR Love will now live in them, even as I live in them!”
You and I should refer to this prayer daily since it is intended to manifest fully and completely in our lives. We should accept nothing less. On the Mount of Transfiguration FATHER spoke the Words “Listen to My Son” thus we should heed HIS directive without exception. Peter was there and later he wrote by The Holy Spirit in his 2nd epistle chapter 1:
3 Everything we could ever need for life and complete devotion to God has already been deposited in us by HIS Divine power. For all this was lavished upon us through the rich experience of knowing HIM Who has called us by name and invited us to come to HIM through a glorious manifestation of HIS goodness. 4 As a result of this, HE has given you magnificent promises that are beyond all price, so that through the power of these tremendous promises you can experience partnership with the Divine nature, by which you have escaped the corrupt desires that are of the world.
Peter knew the importance of Jesus’ prayer to FATHER and he encouraged us to move into full maturity of Agape Love, unity, and glory. He continued:
5 So devote yourselves to lavishly supplementing your faith with goodness,
and to goodness add understanding,
6 and to understanding add the strength of self-control,
and to self-control add patient endurance,
and to patient endurance add Godliness,
7 and to Godliness add mercy toward your Brothers and Sisters,
and to mercy toward others add unending Love.
Peter spoke of these virtues already existing within us since The Holy Spirit resides in us. What then is the issue? It is our inactivity, blindness, or lack of acceptance of Jesus’ prayer. We have no excuse for being fruitless.
8 Since these virtues are already planted deep within, and you possess them in abundant supply, they will keep you from being inactive or fruitless in your pursuit of knowing Jesus Christ more intimately.
9 But if anyone lacks these things, he is blind, constantly closing his eyes to the mysteries of our faith, and forgetting his innocence—for his past sins have been washed away.
Let us not fall into the excuse of “lack” or blindness. Embrace the prayer today.
