Blessed!

THE SPIRIT wrote in Genesis chapter 14:

18 Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High.

19 And he blessed him and said:

“Blessed be Abram of God Most High,

Possessor of heaven and earth;

20 And blessed be God Most High,

Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.”

The very first Word spoken to Abram was “Blessed”.

In Matthew chapter 26, Jesus spoke:

26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to the disciples and said, “Take, eat; this is My body.”

27 Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you.

28 For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

We are to be mindful of FATHER’S favor in our life and HIS intervention in our life is often easily detected.  Melchizedek clearly states WHO is the Deliverer and WHO is the Possessor of Heaven and earth.  HE is the ONE WHO blesses us in all we set our hand.  Melchizedek brought “health, healing, and wholeness” to the encounter and Abram responded by giving “wealth” back.  Both health and wealth are results of FATHER’S grace in our lives.  They are not the Gospel which is centered around mercy. grace, and peace.  Wealth is to be viewed as a by product but not the focus of our receiving from FATHER.  Money is to be used to Love people, not exploit them.

The king of Sodom (the son of evil) approaches Abram after Communion in Genesis chapter 14:

21 Now the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the persons, and take the goods for yourself.”

22 But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have raised my hand to the LORD, God Most High, the Possessor of heaven and earth,

23 that I will take nothing, from a thread to a sandal strap, and that I will not take anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich —

24 except only what the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me: Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.”

The son of evil wanted souls, not wealth and he was willing to give Abram wealth for those souls.  Abram declined for he had aligned himself with the LORD, God Most High, the Possessor of heaven and earth.  The king had nothing to offer nor was Abram concerned about the king’s desire to take anyone or anything from him.  Melchizedek king of Salem came to Abram to give whereas the king of Sodom came to “get” from Abram.  Abram used the same words given to him by Melchizedek king of Salem in dealing with the son or evil thus we should be ever mindful of the Words Jesus spoke when we are confronted by the enemy.

Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre were Amorites who helped Abram but were not of his household thus he had no authority over their actions.  His blessings did not transfer to those who are not of the household of faith and their resources are subject to the use by the son of evil.  Those who are in Communion with FATHER and Our Lord Jesus Christ have resources safe from evil and are able to be deployed for the blessing of others.

As we take Holy Communion expect to be blessed and our enemies, whomever or whatever they may be, will be delivered into our hands.  Jesus Christ declares to us today “Be blessed!”.
