Many people go throughout their lives without ever asking themselves the question “Why am I here, what is my purpose?”. Do you think you are here simply to take up space and resources and then pass away? The Book of Esther brings the answer to this question into focus in the 4th chapter:
13 And Mordecai told them to answer Esther: “Do not think in your heart that you will escape in the king’s palace any more than all the other Jews.
14 For if you remain completely silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place, but you and your father’s house will perish. Yet who knows whether you have come to the kingdom for such a time as this?”
15 Then Esther told them to reply to Mordecai:
16 “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!”
Is your purpose in life to be a passive bystander and observe what is happening all around you without impacting any aspect of the affairs of mankind? I think not. We are called to bring forth fruit of the Kingdom, to take part in establishing HIS Kingdom. That will not happen by sitting on the couch and being an “armchair” quarterback critiquing others.
Jesus told His disciples:
15 And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
This calling applies to you and me as well. If you will simply be led by the Holy Spirit in your daily activities and respond to FATHER’S Voice you will fulfill this mandate. You must get rid of your past understanding and assumptions of what this mandate means. Most are not called to be public speakers compelling the multitudes to repent. Most are called to impact one person at a time. Invest your time, money, and other resources in establishing the Kingdom and let FATHER take care of supplying all your need.
Esther was raised up by FATHER to deliver the Jews from their enemies. When it came time for her to fulfill the purity of her purpose, it took courage and strength to overcome the fear of death. Each of us will come to the same decision point, that same fork in the road. Which path will you take? Jesus spoke in Matthew chapter 7:
13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.
14 Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
I write in order to do my part in helping you enter the narrow gate. Love is the key to opening the door but you still have to make a decision to enter in. Fear will attempt to convince you to take the other path leading you to destruction. If you don’t step up to your purpose, FATHER will bring forth deliverance of mankind from another place. Some of you are called to assist those on the front lines. Some of you have accumulated assets for the Kingdom but are now unwilling to deploy them. Some of you are called to speak boldly to those you encounter. None of you are called to sit on the couch and watch TV to escape the reality of today.
Quit simply thinking of yourself and start thinking of others. In John 13, Jesus spoke:
34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.
35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
Jesus commanded YOU to Love one another thus it is obvious that this is an issue. Many of you will notice I like to quote Jesus so that you know I am not trying to convince you of some subtle mystery hidden from the masses. Life is really simple- Do what Jesus said to do. You can spend your whole life sitting on your posterior dissecting Scripture and be of no use to the Kingdom. Repent! Simply ask the question: FATHER, why am I here? … then do it!
