Speaking with Authority

In Mark chapter 1:

21 Then they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and taught.

22 And they were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

23 Now there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit. And he cried out,

24 saying, “Let us alone! What have we to do with You, Jesus of Nazareth? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”

25 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!”

26 And when the unclean spirit had convulsed him and cried out with a loud voice, he came out of him.

27 Then they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? What new doctrine is this? For with authority He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.”

28 And immediately His fame spread throughout all the region around Galilee.

Where or how did Jesus get His authority?  He received it from FATHER who was well pleased with Him.  If we are to operate in the same power and authority we must align ourselves fully and completely with FATHER and HIM alone.  If you encounter others who do the same then you will also walk in full agreement with them and you will truly be in unity.  It is one thing to agree with someone but another to walk in agreement.

As we align ourselves with FATHER HE will open the door to new opportunities and bring forth others with the same intent.  As this happens you will find yourself walking in greater authority and power.  You will begin to detect when you are speaking HIS Words rather than your own.  You will begin to sense with great expectation an encounter about to happen.  You will boldly speak about FATHER to any stranger for you are no longer attempting to be “politically correct”.

There are those who teach and then there are those to teach with authority.  It was clear that the scribes had no authority.  A scribe was a teacher of the Mosaic Law adding his own commentary and interpretation.  In John chapter 14 Jesus simply spoke the Words with authority directed by FATHER:

7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”

8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”

9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority;but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.

11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.”

Jesus again spoke of authority in John chapter 16 and revealed the plan of the Holy Spirit in our lives to guide us into all Truth.  With the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, we should expect to hear the Words of FATHER specifically to us.  This Truth must overshadow your past teaching by man that you must rely on some minister to hear from FATHER.  This Truth spoken by Jesus must come alive in your consciousness to the point where it is producing fruit.  When will this occur?  Each of us has a unique history to be dealt with.  We must unlearn that which was spoken to us in derivative authority by men and women we esteemed in the past.  We must not let their incomplete understanding prevent us from receiving FATHER’S Word specifically for us.  Jesus unequivocally and emphatically stated the following Truth:

12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.

15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

It is time for each of us to embrace the reality of our direct relationship with FATHER instead of a distant GOD.  When we do we will begin walking, speaking, and operating in HIS authority with power.
