A gap is an unfilled space or interval; a break in continuity, a cleft, a divide, a fissure. In the Old Covenant, the Levitical priesthood served in the Tabernacle. Aaron and his four sons were called to be the high priest, five in one. Only Aaron was to singularly enter the Holy of Holies on the Day of Atonement. All other administration was accomplished by all five:
Exodus 28:1 “Now take Aaron your brother, and his sons with him, from among the children of Israel, that he may minister to Me as priest, Aaron and Aaron’s sons: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.”
The job of the high priest was to enter into the Holy of Holies on behalf OF the people and exit the Presence of FATHER to minister TO the people. The priest acted as a mediator or intermediary, standing in the gap. The Levitical priesthood had a five-fold ministry (Aaron and his sons) just as the Pentecost Age had an expanded five-fold ministry:
Ephesians 4:11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,
12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
The five-fold ministry in both ages was to minister revelation of Who the FATHER is in a world that desperately needs to know. Both ministries had the same purpose of promoting a more mature and greater relationship of the people with Our Creator. The meanings of the names of the first five-fold ministry points to the ministry of the third Age of ministry- the Order of Melchizedek:
Aaron = "light bringer"
Nadab = "willing and generous offering"
Abihu = "he is (my) father"
Eleazar = "God has helped or Divinely enabled"
Ithamar = "country of palms"
We are to bring light and revelation to all mankind. We freely and generously offer ourselves up in Love on behalf of Our FATHER. HE Divinely enables us to operate as priests to the world of palms (mankind in his varied conditions).
Palm (Hebrew: Tamar) denote bitterness through and through and is a feminine plural word. The feminine aspect points to the soul. The priestly ministry is to replace bitterness in men’s souls with peace from Above:
Hebrews 12:14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:
15 looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled;
The third Age of Tabernacles will see the fullness of the priesthood and it will be one without limitation. It is known as the Order of Melchizedek, the enduring priesthood. Psalm 110 prophesies of this priesthood:
1 The LORD said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”
2 The LORD shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion.
Rule in the midst of Your enemies!
3 Your people shall be volunteers
In the day of Your power;
In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning,
You have the dew of Your youth.
4 The LORD has sworn
And will not relent,
“You are a priest forever
According to the order of Melchizedek.”
5 The Lord is at Your right hand;
He shall execute kings in the day of His wrath.
6 He shall judge among the nations,
He shall fill the places with dead bodies,
He shall execute the heads of many countries.
7 He shall drink of the brook by the wayside;
Therefore He shall lift up the head.
This third and final priesthood will bring forth the knowledge of HIS Glory to all the earth with the ultimate result of filling the earth with HIS Glory. The calling for this priesthood has gone forth. Those who have been chosen to be the “generous offering of Love” for all mankind are in the final stages of preparation. They know that the fullness of their calling is yet to be manifested and are anticipating the day of full activation of authority and power to bring forth the ministry to all of mankind. They will bridge the gap between OUR FATHER and mankind.
