Deuteronomy 16:16 “Three times a year all your males shall appear before the LORD your God in the place which He chooses: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Tabernacles; and they shall not appear before the LORD empty-handed.17 Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which He has given you. (NKJV)
Jesus observed the Feasts, so should we. None of us should come empty-handed. Every man shall give as he is able. Some have money, some have hospitality, and others have time. Whatever you have, you should be willing to share it with the brethren during this coming feast. Are you a giver or a taker? It would appear that the above commandment is looking for givers. Are you too busy? There is a parable that addresses that very issue:
The Parable of the Great Supper
Luke 14:15 Now when one of those who sat at the table with Him heard these things, he said to Him, “Blessed is he who shall eat bread in the kingdom of God!”
16 Then He said to him, “A certain man gave a great supper and invited many, 17 and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, ‘Come, for all things are now ready.’ 18 But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, ‘I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.’19 And another said, ‘I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.’ 20 Still another said, ‘I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.’ 21 So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.’22 And the servant said, ‘Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.’23 Then the master said to the servant, ‘Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 24 For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.’ ”
I’m not writing this to make you feel guilty. It is my responsibility to make you aware of the opportunity to walk according to HIS Divine Intent. If you only observe the feasts as a duty, you are missing the point. The Feasts are about expressing Love and honoring Our Heavenly Father Who has provided us the path to life and the fullness of the revelation of Love. Our Heavenly Father Loves a cheerful giver. Don’t view the coming feast as another required task by an unloving creator, view it as an opportunity to express Love and gratitude for HIM sending HIS Son to bring forth Life to each and every one of us.
By the way, the work and other “To Do’s” will still be there after the completion of the Feast. They may get easier as a result of honoring Our Heavenly Father. That has been my experience.
