Command versus Control

Love commands, the lawless control and manipulate.

Genesis 2:16  And the LORD God commanded (tsavah) the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat.

The word tsavah means:

  1. to command, charge, give orders, lay charge, give charge to, order

    1. (Piel)

      1. to lay charge upon

      2. to give charge to, give command to

      3. to give charge unto

      4. to give charge over, appoint

      5. to give charge, command

      6. to charge, command

      7. to charge, commission

      8. to command, appoint, ordain (of divine act)

    2. (Pual) to be commanded

To “command” denotes authority whereas to “control” suggests the need for energy, focus, and resources to create the result.  Command has Our Heavenly Father’s causative power and authority behind it.  HIS Love instituted the laws of the universe and keeps those laws in harmony.  As we line up with HIS Love and HIS Laws, we move out of the energy and resistance-based environment into the rest-based flow of being in command.

For example, the U.S. continues to create new laws to restrict private capital (personal wealth) from leaving its shores.  Why?  The government believes it has the right to your money and to tax you for the privilege to exist as a citizen.  It has created a taxing authority whose job is to further the growth of the center of control.  This creates an adversarial relationship with its citizens.  The citizens then begin to look at ways to protect their acquired wealth by breaking the newly created laws.  Ultimately, control ends in death and destruction.  History is full of examples where men attempted to control the masses for personal gain.  Each time, the system ultimately fell apart.  At the same time, Our Heavenly Father’s creation continued to operate in perfect harmony.  The sun came up every day and set every night, without man’s intervention.

Manipulation is the attempt to control the situation for self-preservation.  Jacob was a master manipulator.  He felt he needed to help Our Heavenly Father bless him.  Little did he realize the Our Heavenly Father’s commands needed no assistance from man.  Our Heavenly Father’s words have life and power within them to cause them to come to pass.  HE is in command of the situation.  Behind those words is Love.  Love has power and authority interwoven into every word that comes forth from its pure source.  When we were preparing to make an offer to buy our current house in 1992, Our Heavenly Father told me what to pay for the house.  It was $10,000 less than the latest asking price for the house.  In my less than fully matured state, I said that I would offer him $20,000 less and then negotiate to Our Heavenly Father’s number.  Our Heavenly Father responded: “Negotiation is manipulation, and manipulation is not of ME.”   Oops!  That was a needful corrective interview.  I offered the price Our Heavenly Father gave me and the man accepted the offer.  We took possession of the 1st Day of Tabernacles in 1992.  (I didn’t know this feast existed back then.)

When we respond to Our Heavenly Father’s direction, we move into command of the situation and into HIS rest.  It takes less energy and resources to walk this path.  Time is freed up.  You are not worn out by attempting to maintain control on multiple fronts.  You can enjoy HIS creation.  As you realize the difference between command and control, the choice becomes clear.  Pursue the revelation of Love and your life will be enriched.  You will shed weights you have added to your life from the various attempts to control lives and/or things.  Love attracts those things that should be under your command.  All of creation yearns for the Kingdom of Our Heavenly Father to fill the earth.  We have been charged with bringing it forth.  Not by force, but by Love being in command of the resources assigned by Heaven.  Love brings forth a true equilibrium.  What a joy!
