The 3rd Baptism: Overcoming Fear

1 John 4:18  There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

If you fully trust in the Love of Our Heavenly Father, you will not fear.  The less you trust, the more fearful you are.  The less revelation of Love you possess, the more fear resides in your heart.  As your revelation of Love comes to full maturity, you become empowered to walk in HIS fullness.  Why?  You are able to hear HIS Voice and fully trust HIS instructions, knowing that you are carrying out HIS Divine Intent.  Divine Intent is Our Heavenly Father’s plan which will be fully successful, without modification.  All of the needed resources will be mustered in order to complete HIS plan.  You will recognize HIS Voice versus the adversary’s voice.

The word “casts” is the Greek word ballō.  This word is first found Matthew 3:10:

And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

The fear in your heart is one indicator of what degree Love has been perfected in you.  Our Heavenly Father will prune and circumcise until the heart is made perfect in Love.  HE will bring you forth into maturity by removing any unfruitful works and casting them into the fire.  We will all go through the fire, some way, somehow.  The question is whether the fire comes early to us individually and judges our hearts by HIS fiery Law of correction or later to those who are introduced to the “lake of fire”.  Either way, the chaff will be removed.  Fear must be cut out at the root.

Most Christians in the faith movement wanted to be independently wealthy, thus they were willing to pay for revelation, the “formula”, or method to use faith to gain finances.  Instead, only the faith teachers promising the elusive wealth ended up enriching their own finances.  The quest for independent wealth is an aspect of fear.  Deep down you do not want to rely and trust in Our Heavenly Father for your needs.  Each of us must assess our own intent when it comes to expanding our finances.  If your focus is set on some future event promising a windfall of wealth, you will probably fail to walk in the fullness of your calling.  If Our Heavenly Father’s plan require substantial funds in your calling, you can be assured that those funds will find their way to you.

Trust is linked to both hope and faith.  Abraham had faith in GOD and the 11th chapter of Hebrews provides a list of those with faith, with faith being described in the first verse:

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Paul spoke of hope:

Romans 8:25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.

The common thread in both verses is the “not yet seen”.  Trust precedes the fruitfulness.  Fear is the enemy of fruitfulness and will cause you to fall short of your calling.  As you focus on Love, when it is perfected, all fear is cast out.  The ultimate result is that your calling is producing a hundredfold return in fruit.  Love is the key to overcoming fear.  When Love is perfected and in its fullness, hope and faith are no longer at the forefront.  Love has arrived.  If you place no emphasis on being perfected in Love, you might want to join a band, they may need a clanging cymbal.

  • NASB© 13:1 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.
