The Denial of Reality

One of the biggest challenges every person faces is the denial of reality.  Often we are pursuing an illusion that we are succeeding at something and then we wonder why we don’t experience the richness of life.  We wake up depressed and wonder is it worth it all.  We continually create illusions to promote a counterfeit reality and thus we are destined to repeat the same mistakes over and over.

On a macro scale, governments have been in denial about their debt-based growth solutions.  They have been influenced by self-serving financial supporters who are willing to throw everyone but their group under the bus.  Their motivation is strictly the love of money.

At a personal level, the ego has convinced you that past failures were others’ fault and had you been given the proper resources, time, or opportunity the outcome would have been different.  Instead, we should look in the mirror and change.  Our failures should be used as indicators that we missed the boat and we must change our thinking in order to achieve success and the fullness that life has to offer.

Look in the mirror.  Do you like what you see?  If not, change.  Easily said but success in this area seems to be beyond most people’s grasp.  Why?  Deep within the recesses of their being is some core flaw that must be rooted out.  The question is “How do I find the source of my issue?”

I believe there is one sure way to expose the hindrances to changing from destruction and death to life and living.  It centers around Love.  Consider what people will do when Love arrives on the scene.  They will change a previously charted course immediately.  Nothing else matters.  In Scripture, the disciples met Love and discarded everything to follow this new course.

The pursuit of a counterfeit reality is a sure way of achieving failure, and failure precedes death and destruction.  Drugs are a counterfeit reality.  They simply temporarily mask the pain without dealing with the source of the problem.  If you are on medication for a chronic problem, you are probably not dealing with the source of the problem.  How can you find the source?  Our Creator knows the source of the issue.  That is a certainty.  The source of your problem may be spiritual, mental, or emotional.  Medical doctors tend to stay away from those areas.  Instead, they simply treat the symptoms with drugs.  Other practitioners try to apply their expertise thinking that their solution treats all sickness as though it had a single cause.  Assuming that Our Heavenly Father knew what HE was doing when HE created your body, don’t you think pursuing HIM and HIS wisdom should uncover the source of your problem?  Who Loves you more than Our Heavenly Father?  Who else has your best interest at heart in every circumstance?

We need to become fruit inspectors.  We cannot judge a man’s heart but we can and should judge fruit.  Our first inspection of fruit should be our own.  Those that know me will confirm that I don’t have all the answers.  I simply serve the ONE who does.  I am in hot pursuit for the fullness of HIS Character in my life.  As I pursue life, my fruit will become fruit of life, not death and destruction.  In order to pursue life, we must no longer deny reality.  We must quit blaming others for our lack of fruitfulness.  We must look in the mirror and acknowledge the reality of our own history.  Embrace the good, learn from the bad, just quit denying its existence as though it will go away without any consequence.  In order to repent, you must accept the reality of your current direction.
