Testimonies are the same yesterday, today, and forever!
As I wrote yesterday:
The Hebrew word for “testimony,” often translated as “Aydooth” or “Edut,” is derived from a root word that means “do it again,” “repeat,” or “return”. Sharing a testimony in this context is not just a retelling of events, but a declaration that God’s power and authority can be repeated in the lives of others. It’s an affirmation that God’s actions in the past can be experienced again.
It is vital for you and me to embrace this Truth!
Moses recorded by The Holy Spirit in Deuteronomy chapter 6:
1 “Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the LORD Your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess,
2 that you may fear the LORD your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.
3 Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the LORD God of your fathers has promised you-‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’
4 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD Our God, the LORD is One!
5 You shall Love The LORD Your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
6]”And these Words which I command you today shall be in your heart.
7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
17 You shall diligently keep the commandments of the LORD your God, His testimonies, and His statutes which He has commanded you.
And:
20 “When your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What is the meaning of the testimonies, the statutes, and the judgments which the LORD our God has commanded you?’
24 And the LORD commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is this day.
25 Then it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to observe all these commandments before the LORD our God, as He has commanded us.’
Why are we to remember what FATHER has spoken in the past? HIS Word is continuously applicable to the situations we each encounter. The miracles that occurred on behalf of the children of Israel, are to show us that all things are possible for those who are His Children. The “supernatural’ is “natural” with Our Heavenly Father.
Keeping a commandment is to obey GOD. Keeping the statutes of GOD is where HE is teaching His value system. In a commandment, HE is telling us what to think whereas in a statute, HE is telling us how to think, HIS perception of reality and how HE wants us to navigate life.
Keeping a testimony means that I hold the record of GOD’S interventions among people so close to me, that they become the “lenses” through which I see present problems or challenges. I interpret them through a history with GOD.
If HE has miraculously healed me in the past, I know HE will do it again. If HE gave me favor among men in the past, HE will do it again. If HE came to my financial rescue in the past, clearly, HE will do it again. I can attest to miracles in all three areas.
Let each of us walk in new testimonies that will encourage others around us. This will give them hope for their situation!
