The Promised Land

Every Scripture is GOD-breathed and is to instruct, correct, and lead us into the path of Godliness!

Often times in the past, there have been ministries who have downplayed the importance of the Old Testament.  Paul didn’t!

However, Paul wrote by The Holy Spirit in Romans chapter 15:

4 Whatever was written beforehand is meant to instruct us in how to live. The Scriptures impart to us encouragement and inspiration so that we can live in hope and endure all things.

And in 2nd Timothy chapter 3:

15 Remember what you were taught from your childhood from the Holy Scrolls which can impart to you Wisdom to experience everlasting Life through the faith of Jesus, the Anointed One!

16 God has transmitted His very Substance into every Scripture, for It is God-breathed. It will empower you by Its instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you deeper into the path of Godliness. 17 Then you will be God’s servant, fully mature and perfectly prepared to fulfill any assignment God gives you.

Paul referenced Moses and the children of Israel as he wrote by The Holy Spirit in 1st Corinthians chapter 10:

1 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea,

2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea,

3 all ate the same Spiritual food,

4 and all drank the same Spiritual drink. For they drank of that Spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ.

5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.

6 Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as they also lusted.

7 And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.”

8 Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as some of them did, and in one day twenty-three thousand fell;

9 nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents;

10 nor complain, as some of them also complained, and were destroyed by the destroyer.

11 Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come.

There is much instruction toward a deeper understanding of the challenges toward maturity for those of us who truly want to be fully led by The Holy Spirit.  The example of the children of Israel being set free from Egypt (the world system) and were meant to enter the Promised Land (GOD’S Kingdom on earth) is such an example.  Paul directed our attention to this account written by Moses.

This story illustrates the normal Christian life, it doesn’t illustrate entrance into Heaven, but entrance into the reality of the Kingdom of God here on earth.

Some things ended at the cross (animal sacrifice), some things made it through the cross changed (Sabbath rest), and some things came through the cross unchanged (Davidic worship, music).  The entire Old Testament has that reality to It.

The Promised Land story is an ongoing invitation for more!

Jesus illustrated the normal Christian Life.  Paul expressed this Truth as he recorded in Ephesians chapter 5:

1 Be imitators of God in everything you do, for then you will represent your Father as His Beloved sons and daughters.

2 And continue to walk surrendered to the extravagant Love of Christ, for He surrendered His Life as a sacrifice for us. His great Love for us was pleasing to God, like an aroma of adoration—a sweet healing fragrance.

Our goal should be to bring forth Heaven to earth and reside in the Promised Land in Godliness.
