As we walk in Holiness, we will be the salt of the earth, we are meant to make a difference!
Many believers want to separate themselves and be isolated from the world. This would defeat the purpose of being a grain of salt of the earth. Your presence among the heathen keeps judgment from raining down from Heaven.
GOD will never place you where the grace of GOD cannot keep you. Your presence should restrain chaos and judgment from coming forth.
Paul wrote by The Holy Spirit in 2nd Corinthians chapter 12:
7 The extraordinary level of the revelations I’ve received is no reason for anyone to exalt me. For this is why a thorn in my flesh was given to me, the Adversary’s messenger sent to harass me, keeping me from becoming arrogant.
8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to relieve me of this.
9 But He answered me, “My grace is always more than enough for you, and My power finds its full expression through your weakness.” So I will celebrate my weaknesses, for when I’m weak I sense more deeply the mighty power of Christ living in me.
10 So I’m not defeated by my weakness, but delighted! For when I feel my weakness and endure mistreatment—when I’m surrounded with troubles on every side and face persecution because of my Love for Christ—I am made yet stronger. For my weakness becomes a portal to God’s power.
We must not be hesitant to confront the world. Jesus was not afraid of the enemy, and neither should we. We are to trust in the Power of GOD as we walk in our own weakness, just like Paul.
Our presence should convict the unsaved of their condition. If we don’t make an impact on the unsaved, then we are not functioning as salt.
Another feature of salt is that it is a preservative. Before refrigeration, salt was used to preserve meat. Salt would hold back the forces of corruption of the meat. We too are meant to hold back the forces of corruption so long as we effectively function as salt. Godliness, rebellion, and corruption which are at work, will be held back due to our presence and never be allowed to come to their fullness.
Only after the ekklesia has been taken from the earth will wickedness come to its final culmination. We are here to hold back moral corruption, social corruption, political corruption, the corruption in every realm of the society in which we live we are responsible for. We must not allow ourselves to be salt which has lost its flavor.
After Jesus spoke of being the salt of the earth, He immediately spoke of being the light of the world. In His time on earth, it was common to put salt on the wick of a lamp to increase its brightness. In our dual function as light and salt, our light should shine even brighter!
Jesus spoke in Mark chapter 9:
49 “Everyone will pass through the fire and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt.
50 Salt is excellent for seasoning. But if salt becomes tasteless, how can its flavor ever be restored? Your lives, like salt, are to season and preserve. So don’t lose your flavor, and preserve the peace in your union with one another.”
And in Luke chapter 14, Jesus said:
34 “Salt is good for seasoning. But if salt were to lose its flavor, how could it ever be restored?
35 It will never be useful again, not even fit for the soil or the manure pile! If you have ears opened by the Spirit, then hear the meaning of what I have said and apply it to yourselves.”
Let us not become useless and good for nothing.
