Hebrews 8: 10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 11 None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
This passage references Jeremiah 31. Our Heavenly Father has taken on the responsibility of “writing” HIS Laws on our hearts. However we have the responsibility to take some actions ourselves.
“Having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus’” is somewhat mysterious to many. We have the right to go boldly into the presence of Our Heavenly Father. Our access is assured because of the blood of Jesus as the perfect sacrifice. When you come into the presence, you are affected by HIS Character. By exposing yourself on a a daily basis to the Character of Our Heavenly Father, you begin to take on HIS Ways. HIS Character and HIS Ways are based on Love. His Laws are based on Love and Jesus summed them up with the two Commandments of Love:
Matthew 22: 37 Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
If you want something written in your mind and on your heart, you need to expose yourself to it. You have a responsibility to flee youthful lusts, to pursue peace, to walk in Love. There are some who believe you simply sit around and wait for Our Heavenly Father to do HIS surgery on you and place HIS Laws on your heart. The Promised Land had to be conquered. Our Heavenly Father could have removed all the inhabitants Himself but HE required Joshua and the children of Israel to take action. We are called to overcome. One of the greatest battles each of us must deal with is with our own flesh. By immersing yourself in the study of Love, you take command over your ego. By walking in Love you establish authority over your flesh. By giving to others you plant seeds of blessing. Our Heavenly Father will insure your acts and focus will be rewarded by writing Love in your mind and heart.
As the Law of Love becomes a part of you, your view on the world changes. Enemies cease being adversaries. You have greater compassion for the unlovely. You try to understand the challenges that come before you as opportunities to grow in Love. You lawless deeds are replaced with righteous acts. Your thought processes and your priorities change. What was once important is no longer necessary. You view life with excitement. You will be transformed because the Law of Love is being written in your mind and in your heart. What a glorious journey!
