The Veil

Let us understand the purpose of the veil at the entrance to the Holy of Holies!

Matthew recorded by The Holy Spirit in Matthew chapter 27:

45  Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land.

46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”

47 Some of those who stood there, when they heard that, said, “This Man is calling for Elijah!”

48 Immediately one of them ran and took a sponge, filled it with sour wine and put it on a reed, and offered it to Him to drink.

49 The rest said, “Let Him alone; let us see if Elijah will come to save Him.”

50 And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.

51 Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split,

52 and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised;

53 and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.

This veil was to separate and protect mankind from being judged unto to death by The Presence of THE LORD.

Moses recorded by THE SPIRIT in Exodus chapter 26:

31  “You shall make a veil woven of blue, purple, and scarlet thread, and fine woven linen. It shall be woven with an artistic design of cherubim.

32 You shall hang it upon the four pillars of acacia wood overlaid with gold. Their hooks shall be gold, upon four sockets of silver.

33 And you shall hang the veil from the clasps. Then you shall bring the ark of the Testimony in there, behind the veil. The veil shall be a divider for you between the Holy place and the Most Holy.

34 You shall put the mercy seat upon the ark of the Testimony in the Most Holy. 35 You shall set the table outside the veil, and the lampstand across from the table on the side of the tabernacle toward the south; and you shall put the table on the north side.

Because of man’s sinful nature, FATHER had to provide a separator between HIM and man when HIS Presence came into the Holy of Holies.  The high priest could only enter in one time each year once a sacrifice of innocent blood had been presented.  The sacrificial blood came from a lamb without imperfections.  The acceptance was temporary in nature.

The cherubim represented the judgment of attempting to enter in through unacceptable means.

Moses recorded by THE SPIRIT in Genesis chapter 3:

24 So HE drove out the man; and HE placed cherubim at the east of the garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of Life.

Cherubim are warrior angels, not angelic babies with wings as has been depicted in the past.  They were charged with protecting the Zoe Life from being accessed by sinful men who would come under eternal judgment if they experienced the unrestricted Presence of THE LORD.  They were placed there because of the Agape Love of FATHER.

The veil was the boundary between earth and Heaven. Josephus and Philo agree that the four different colors from which it as woven represented the four elements from which the world was created: earth, air, fire and water. The scarlet thread represented fire, the blue was the air, the purple was the sea, that is, water, and the white linen represented the earth in which the flax had grown. In other words, the veil represented matter. The high priest wore a vestment woven from the same four colors and this is why the Book of Wisdom says that Aaron’s robe represented the whole world. He took off this robe when he entered the Holy of Holies because the robe was the visible form of one who entered the Holy of Holies.  Those who shed the earthly garments, on the other side of the veil, were robed in garments of glory. In other words, they became Divine.

Once each year, the high priest had a taste of The Divine, but it was only temporary.

It is critical that we understand the revelation of the veil if we are to become fully mature as Sons and Daughters of GOD.  More to come…
