Who Do You Serve? Part 14

Who do we serve, GOD or mammon?

Do not confuse the Source with the resource.

It is written by THE SPIRIT in Malachi chapter 3:

6  “For I the LORD do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.

The SOURCE of all resources does not change, ever!

Jesus spoke about worry immediately after He warned us against serving mammon:

Matthew chapter 6:

24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

25  “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet Your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?

27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;

29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’

32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For Your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.

33 But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Why would Jesus talk about worry right after instructing us concerning mammon?  The adversary will try to move you toward worry once you no longer serve mammon and begin serving GOD.  The word “worry” means: to be anxious; to be troubled with cares.  You are not at peace when you worry.

How do I deal with worry?  I pray in The Holy Spirit until any form of worry is gone.

Paul wrote by The Holy Spirit in Galatians chapter 5:

22  But the fruit of the Spirit is Love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,

23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

In the mid 1990’s, I was working in my own business and suddenly the revenue quit flowing.  I asked FATHER about it, and HE said, “You are now in a financial wilderness.”  I asked, “How long?”  HE said, “for 18 months.”  This was clearly a test of faith for my wife and me.  No matter what I did, I could not generate revenue for the business.

Often, fear and worry would grip me when I awoke.  There were days that I had to pray for up to four hours to finally get peace in my heart.  Why not, there was nothing else for me to do.  At one point, it looked like we might have to file for bankruptcy.  Our finances were in a nosedive.  At the end of the eighteen-month testing period, revenue once again flowed, and we did not file bankruptcy.  Since then, we have never had another wilderness experience.

I share this experience to show you that we all face significant challenges in our lives.  Each of us may go through our own “wilderness” experience to reveal our heart and level of our faith IN HIM.  The experience made me stronger and more resilient in dealing with the wiles of the devil.  I can relate with those who are going through tests and trials, I have had plenty myself, yet I am still here!

By the way, your resource requirement will change as you mature in Christ and proceed to fulfill your Divine assignment.
