Harpazo: Phillip and Ezekiel

Both Phillip and Ezekiel were ”harpazo’d” in the midst of their ministries as examples to us!

Luke recorded by The Holy Spirit in Acts chapter 8:

25  After Peter and John had testified and taught the Word of God in that city, they returned to Jerusalem, stopping at many Samaritan villages along the way to preach the hope of the gospel.

26 Then the Lord’s angel said to Philip, “Now go south from Jerusalem on the desert road to Gaza.”

27 He left immediately on his assignment. Along the way he encountered an Ethiopian who believed in the God of the Jews, who was the minister of finance for Candace, queen of Ethiopia. He was on his way home from worshiping God in Jerusalem,

28 was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet.

29 Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.”

30 So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”

31 And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.

32 The place in the Scripture which he read was this:

“He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, So He opened not His mouth.

33 In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth.”  (Isaiah 53:7-8)

34 So the eunuch answered Philip and said, “I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?”

35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.

36 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?”

37 Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

38 So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.

39 Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away (G726 harpazo), so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing.

40 But Philip was found at Azotus (Ashdod). And passing through, he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea.

Ashdod was at least fifteen miles from the desert road to Gaza.  Phillip was fully led by The Holy Spirit and was given orders by an angel from the Throne Room.  Should we expect any less as we come into full maturity?

It is written by THE SPIRIT in Ezekiel chapter 3:

12  Then the Spirit lifted me up, and behind me I heard a loud, thunderous voice: “Blessed be the glory of Yahweh in His sanctuary!”

13 I heard the sound of the living creatures as their wings kissed each other and the sound of the rumbling wheels beside them, like the sound of a great earthquake.

14 The Spirit lifted me up and took me away. I went in the heat of my spirit, and the Hand of Yahweh rested powerfully upon me.

15 The Spirit took me to Tel Abib, the very place where the Jewish exiles were living beside the River Chebar. I remained there with them for a week, dumbfounded and overwhelmed by what I had seen and heard.

You and I would surely be overwhelmed as well in such an unexpected event.  We must cautious not to rationalize away The Word and attempt to create symbolic allegories to explain the supernatural.  FATHER is precise in HIS Word from Genesis to Revelation.  HE means what HE says and says what HE means.
